Nothing like good old racism...

Now that I've had the honor of having a very legitimate topic locked, it's time for another one (that I guess could potentially get locked). I've unfortunately got nothing to back this up other than the word from an employee.

There's a really shitty chain of bars in Tokyo called Gas Panic. The main clientel demograph are seamen that have strayed too far from the base. The only locals (even foreign locals) that go in here are chics that are out for American guys.

Anyways, they've had one in Shibuya for a couple of years now, and now they've just opened another on in Shibuya. According to a guy that works there, there are no black people allowed in the new one. Too much hassle with girls and other patrons. The guy that said so is from Cameroon (obviously black) and they almost didnt' let him in once, despite the fact that he worked there. I'd have quit in heartbeat.

 

if some bad threads keep coming up this site might be the next adtrw or i-mockery someday.
and i mean "bad" by making everybody argue with footlong posts.

 

well, first, i would like to congradulate you on your interesting tread that touched alot of people opinions and thought, making the forum all about politics in a interesting ''debate' that prooved once again that politics isn't just about who will vote for who in the next US election, but a wide thing that is all over the world and toughts. those few minutes of pure fun wheren't enough, tough the flames that quickly surpased the fun of the debate where sadly here for nothing , the chances to view a politic forum is now of near nothing ,sadly (i don't blame you, its not of your fault).

second, i don't think this tread will be locked because there's not the word USA in it so no alienworkshop to argue(plus, alot of people ate rasism , not like The US..-oh, wait :smt043 ) :smt043 (hey , that's only a joke, alienworkshop, so don't worry... :smt023 )

i don't whant to respond to your begening of tread , mostly because i trully dislike racism, im not directly touched by it , because i'm a white male ,(...) and because here, in canada , the racism isn't really develloped . sure, there's racism everywhere in every countries, but alot of people from all over the wolrd live here , so whe are accustomed to everyone from all over the wolrd. so, not alot of people are racist. This is maybe because i don't love people that are racist , i'm not really accustomed to them.

and if i start talking (well,actually writing) about them, i'm sure ill make this tread close very quickly, and i don't whant to , because i whant a politic-only forum!

Well, I've seen a couple of times on TV a few documentaries about japanese stores that wouldn't let any foreigner shop there. Inside one of them there was actually a warning on the wall saying they wouldn't sell anything to foreigners, so I'm not really surprised by what you said, although I don't agree with that kind of policy

i live in south arkansas usa. look at a map of arkansas on the mexican density in the u.s. there is 0-5 % everywhere there except for our county 60-75% (!)
We have racism against some mexicans and black people here, sometimes. now let me tell you one thing, racism is stupid, and i am not racist. not liking someone just because of their skin color is just downright idiotic. the other day, i read in the newspaper stated that an old white woman threw a brick at black man.
i hear the N word used by some people down there and they say "its the proper term of the south"
when i heard that it made me sick.

But to get on topic, as most of you probably know Mr. Casual and I live in the same area. Yes there are a lot of Mexican people that live in our area, but that is not a bad thing. I hate racism, it is just idiotic, and sadly like Mr. Casual said, racism is bad in our area.

I know that club/bar that you talk about Gaijin Punch. I once went to Gas Panic myself 4 or 5 years ago with my friends. Even back then they had really shitty rules. Not only to black people but to any non Japanese. My friend had brown shoes like I did but he was allowed to enter while I wasn't. No reason was given. Could that have been a racist reason? I think so since my friend was Japanese.

I've yet to come across any normal places that won't serve or let foreigners enter but I'm sure there are a few around.

Was that Gas Panic in Tokyo? It's typically a gaijin man, japanese bimbo place. A mate of mine that lived in the UK had a mate who pulled some Japaense chick. They start dating, yada yada. Her English sucked though, so she's telling him in Japanese that she hangs out at Gas Panic and other Roppongi shit holes. He said he didn't have the heart to tell him that she probably bangs a boatlad of US military guys.

Why that one countY? I'm from Dallas, so of course, there's a massive hispanic population.

In all honesty, those "no foreigners" places are pretty few and far between these days. There's a very healthy foreign market in Japan that only an idiot wouldn't want a piece of. Still though, they exist.

 

those two treads are really interesting , if its wasn't of the beginning of the flaming that started in the other post , im sure everyone would be scotched to this topic trying to saying what are their opinions and argue with respect for the people that wrote what they thing isn't real and their toughts.

i really would love a special forum that talk about those things and trying to make understand those who can't contain themselves not to visit it or trying to politly explain their points of views.
after the last tread, im sure it won't happen in a near-future (sadly :Hangman: ) but if we could make understand that we can be wrong true and those who are trying to explain something can be right , that's there's no real answers to anything , and that everyone have a different point of view, we could really have interesting debates that would scotch us.

i tried to wrote to somes to calm down , but when i pushed the submit button , something goes wrong , it wasn't normal , then i know it was too late and that chances of politics here are really poor. :Hangman:

could we try to release the lock in politicals tread? we could try to calm people before jumping on conclusions and locking the tread. can't we make littles expirences for a time? i would really like to be able to talk about how this world is (well, that's not what life is all about ....but, this subject touch everyone. )

we never know ; maybe this forum , in a very near-future, could accept politics , or maybe a new forum for pollitics and advertised people only? we can't tell if its wrong or no if we can't try enough....

 

I agree with you. I think the mods are a bit too trigger-happy with the lock button. The whole beauty of democracy and the free world is expressing your opinions to people that don't agree with them, and hearing theirs. Unfortunately, when there are Republicans in the conversation, there's always some childish namecalling. (HAHA -- just kidding, couldn't resist. Sorry to you conservatives out there).

Anyways, hopefully this will stay "cool' as it's a very real, and sickening topic in the world we live in.

I agree that this is a very sickening topic. I hate racism in all forms, and I am appalled by it. The color of your skin has nothing to do with what kind of person you are. I think it is better to accept and enjoy what other cultures have to offer.

Here in holland rascism is starting to grow, especialy since 9/11 the gap between muslim and non-muslim has grown Marokkans and antillians especialy , teenagers of those ethnics groups are verry often out to make trouble.

It's just that general tollerance for other has dropped a lot since 9/11 which is very sad as thing were ging pretty well before. :smt009

 

im not sure why there are so many mexicans around just my county. one mexican joked to some white students one day...

maybe there is alot of good jobs for them here. its mostly manual labor stuff, so you dont really need to know much english...
