I'm going to spin this off from the what hasn't aged well topic. Long story short while I was building my PS1 wishlist I stumbled on a bunch of FPSes. Project Tenka from Psyignosis, Star Wars Dark Forces, A few Duke Nukems (2 of which I think are 3rd person, different topic) Disruptor from Insomniac which predates Resistance by atleast a decade. Then I'm not even getting into what was on the PC at the time, like Rise of the Triad, Blood and the classic Shadow warrior. There were some interesting games going on in the genre....then Halo and Call of Duty came along and ruined everything. Not that I hate Halo. Just Halo 2-670.
you should hear this bitch pumped out via paired four hundred watt bass-bins. :witless: blew my skirt off...:smile-new: ... Half-Life - Last Level - Hardest Difficulty (not my video)
why should it be? each to their own. :smile-new: (subject is about old fps's, so...) ... give sudeki for xbox a try, maybe in for a pleasant surprise?! :cocksure:
True, I'm thinking before half life. and Sudeki isn't an FPS. But since you bring it up like that...this happened when I brought it up on Facebook.
^^ oh, for love of FFFFK! FACEBOOK? i aint getting involved anymore save this... sudeki is a multi-style game with FPS throughout it, if you haven't played it YOURSELF, how can you disregard it? (if i'm not mistaken, most of the game can be played that fashion, MOST!) ... make of that what you will!
There's also Kileak: The DNA Imperitave? I may have the subtitle messed up, but the title is definitely Kileak. Its a neat little gem that plays pretty well. Also Ghen War for the Saturn. I believe that one is also an FPS. Then there's the great grand-daddy of them all, and IMO is the best first person shooter ever made besides GoldenEye 007: DOOM. Been playing through all the DOOMs again recently. Also, I forgot to concur. The FPS genre has completely betrayed what it originated as. Smart, complex level design, interesting worlds, unique characters, etc; all brushed aside for linear bland-fests.
Japan only no wonder I couldn't find it. Isn't Sudeki a Jrpg style RPG that is not in fact a JRPG? Eh I need a working XBOX anyway. I NEED Quake on Saturn. Speaking of Saturn FPSes there's Robotica a really weird game and it's hard to get a handle on it. By the way Louise Belcher FUCK YEAH!
You might also want to try Quake II on the PS1. The multiplayer is awesome, and it evolves into a party-like game when played with 4 players
Descent was on the PS1 (not sure about the sequels though), Forsaken for the PS1 and N64 is good I've heard. If you're looking for Genesis/MD FPS games, there's a grand total of 4. Zero Tolerance, Corporation/Cyber-Cop, Battle Frenzy, and Duke Nukem 3D (only in Brazil)
Oh no doubt I'm going to give PS1 Quake II a go. I had no idea the Megasis even had FPSes. I know the 32X had a terrible version of DOOM but that's about it.
Lifeforce Tenka is a massive nostalgia trip for me. When I got a PS1 back in 96 I couldnt really afford many games so I'd abuse demo discs and the one bundled with my machine had this on it. Great fun at the time. I always liked Redneck Rampage on PC when I was a kid too.
Give Exhumed (I think it's called PowerSlave in the US) a try it's an amazing game, Just make sure you play the Saturn or PS1 version, PC versions not the same.
Yeah It's on my PS1 wishlist. I was looking for the Video of the Ex Marine talking about how Doom taught us all to be emotionless killing machines but it doesn't seem to be on You Tube. No old FPS topic is complete without mention of how the Genre was and still is scapegoated. Quick edit: No videos but Google brought up a ton of forum topics and stupid blogs from stupid people playing scapegoat.
Just remembered a game I had back in the day, Krazy Ivan crap game but the rubbish acting make it kinda funny. No way are the actors Russian lol.
Didn't you know? The Columbine shooters were perfectly normal kids, then they accidentally downloaded Doom and (since it was 90s dialup, 6 hours later) instantly became remorseless killing machines. Same goes for that devil music too.
