I love Unreal Tournament. Still play it every now and then, so much fun.

Dark Forces is kind of lacking and hasn't aged well either, Jedi Knight or the sequel are great Star Wars FPSes.

The Saturn port has several scaled down levels thanks to running on the Powerslave engine and some are missing entirely. It's a pretty crappy version of Duke 3D, but at least it has the Death Tank minigame.

Tenka was a good game for the time, nice graphics too, but it came before the dualshock so like all FPS before mouselook it wasn't that fun to play

Fuck, remember the ads for this shit? the irony is that 90s russia was so broke they could've hired actual good russian actors for less money than these Z-listers

The thing with Krazy Ivan is it's too easy, I paid £25 for it back in the 90's and finished it first go and it's just not fun to play a second time. It could of been an awesome game if it was just a little hard to beat.

I forgot an old one from the Sega Genesis. It's called Zero Tolerance. Pretty strange, and a little hard to adjust to.

Haha, what game are you referring to? I'm going to find a youtube link for Zero Tolerance. It definitely shows its age. I still pop it into my Gen-X every once and a while.

I was talking about Zero Tolerance. for a game where the shooting is 1/4th of the screen it looked very impressive.

There was one FPS from the 90s I remember playing but can't remember the name for the life of me. And I've searched for it a ton. IIRC it was one of those 2.5D games (like Doom and Duke Nukem 3D) and I recall it used the Build engine. It was a sci-fi type and one impressive part was you have a "weapon" that would shoot a camera drone that you could fly around the level to scout ahead. The only other "game" at the time that had such a feature was actually a mod for Quake that was in the KQP which put a camera on a rocket. It also involved hacking computers in the game. Such as it would open a screen that looked like DOS and actual DOS commands could be typed and used.

The first FPS I can ever remember playing is Faceball 2000 on the gameboy ;) Then wolf3d after that I guess - are there any earlier examples?

Faceball 2000 is a remake of Midi Maze on the Atari ST, It's the oldest fps I know of.

I used to love this game called Maken X for the Dreamcast, the controls were fantastic as was the story. would love a modern version for the Playstion 3 or 4.
