PC gamers = Toxic (most of the time)

I have a PC I like to play games on but why is it the general PC gaming crowd are such toxic people (there are plenty of nice people but the outgoing image is toxic of the large portion of the community)

Today I was banned from a PC parts sale group on Facebook for saying this.

"What's with people building nice computers but not spending an extra $30 for a better cooler?"

Most comments (even from "admins") where "fuck you.."

Like really!?

I like computers, always have but damn social reject PC masterbate race people are the worst...

Again there are plenty of nice people in that community but only the warts show on the outside...

People get all uptight and refuse to be open minded to other's opinions. Don't worry about it.

Steam forums, Dota, CS, all have one of the most toxic communities online.

 

I love being the guy that tells people they're wrong with facts but also mixing in my own unneeded opinions.
There are people that will just outright explode just for having a different opinion.

Yeah your computer is busted after you installed a virus because you cant tell the difference between 3kb and 3mb for that music you tried to download from a clearly fake site and you wanna get it repaired, but you trust someone from geek squad or best buy more than the person that's growing a beard and is currently taking away at his computer because he needed to rescue from a kernel panic. Yes please go spend money "fixing" and adding unneeded bloat and shitty programs from someone that has a script of procedures to follow instead of the guy that offers to use the FREE tools to fix your problem FOR FREE because he knows what hes doing and doesn't even have to try.

Oh and thanks for showing off your brand new iPhone and Macbook because we absolutely need to see this overpriced raspberry pi with a bunch of battery and 1 usb port that doubles as the charging slot and peripheral slot so you'd end up buying more shit you don't need for no reason what so ever aside from being able to plug in more devices.

Yes please tell me how I'm wrong and why "if it's free then it must be worthless". Yes please tell me how "porn sites give viruses" when statistically it's been ACTUALLY PROVEN that sites that have returning users are not prone to said malicious content (go look this one up. A religious site is more likely to give malware over porn sites). Yes PLEASE insist that the person that is on par or better than the IT guy at work because "he has a degree and you dont" which is a fair criticism until you point out you can google literally anything relating to this stuff and get an answer.

Yes please tell me how your graphics card didn't fit the motherboard so you cut the PCI contact off the board to make it fit and now it doesn't work. Yes please tell me how uTorrent is not the same as Bittorrent and how both are better than Deluge (utorrent and bittorent 2.2.2 are okay for the record). Please tell me how your pirate bay link is vastly superior to the one I can provide when yours has 2 seeders and 8 confirmed malware instances while mine is clean and vanilla with not even a single false positive while it has 967 seeders.

Theres dumb people and people easy to get mad for not understanding technology.
I'm also "that guy" that makes people mad for opinions.
I am part of the group that creates toxicity but I do it when deserved.

 

I would do the same if I didn't rely on Messenger for communication.

Funnily enough, some would treat you the same way for *not* buying a 2' Noctua fan or a water-cooled setup.

I think because they get to "build" (rather assemble) it themselves, some people automatically think they are some kind of 1337 x-perts hax0rz.

FB is nice as long as you only interact with people you know IRL. Can still be a disappointment to realise stone people you know are racists or just terrible persons, but hey, at least now you know.

This is exactly what I was going to say. Sounds like that specific group was pretty toxic. The PC Master Race subreddit doesn't seem all that bad to me.

I hate that "PC Master Race" crap. Those jerks make us good PC gamers look bad (for the most part). Yeah I play on PC but I also play on console. Why? Because I play what I want to play on the platform I desire to play it on. I have games that I play(ed) on consoles that are superior on PC. I don't care, I'm going to play them on my [insert system here] and no "doode, liek, PC Master Race bro! quit beeing sum stoopid console peesant" guy/gal who can't even spell correctly is going to stop me. I also play games on consoles that I can't get on PC. Same goes for some PC games I can't get on consoles.

These are the same kind of people that attack other PC gamers because they chose a power supply unit that isn't so and so brand. They argue it out, throwing useless facts around like "[insert popular PSU brand here] is outperforms [insert rival PSU brand here] on every rig" until the one guy says something like "Whatever, have fun with your firecrackers in a box" and it explodes (metaphorically; no pun intended) into something that can break friendships. It's a freaking PSU for crying out loud! It applies power to your PC, that is all. It isn't magic, just electricity! Some of these guys/gals also need to have the latest and greatest parts because they get an extra frame or two per second and bash the people who don't do that

Even with people like me supporting PC gaming, I still hear those jerks laughing and making fun of us. Do these toxic monsters seriously have nothing else to do in their lives? Use that energy for something to better yourself or humanity like get a job to earn an income, go to the local park and walk around enjoying nature, do something other than cyberbullying someone because they don't agree with you.

Although Minecraft and The Elder Scrolls series are games that I can no longer play on console because of some awesome mods that I can't get on consoles. Anyone up for going to the moon while dressed as a drunk Dwemer dude holding a slaughterfish as a weapon wearing a Portal 2 core robot dude as a helmet?

Also a note on the piracy thing, I don't pirate my PC games. I buy them on Steam/Origin/GOG/Humble Bundle/retail store/whatever legal way of purchasing them.

These monsters scare away people from the honest and good hearted PC gaming communities and should not be allowed anywhere. It's the Internet though. You can't do a witchhunt and remove these jerks from this place originally designed to share scientific information sadly. Anyhow I wasted too much time on this post lol.

I play on PC most of the times nowadays but I also play console (usually for console exclusive games). Do I believe PC gaming is better than console gaming? Yes. But I don't go telling people that console sucks and they should only play PC games. Everyone likes what they like.

 

Yeah, as a guy who as a personal preference prefers the PC as a gaming platform... those, "PC Master Race" guys are a bunch of tools. Seriously, the PC has a lot of upsides but a lot of downsides too. Not everyone is going to have the patience or dedication to really take advantage of what the PC can do for gaming and that is fine (Going through a lot of tweaking that can take serious time is that downside by the way), but treating people like they are inferior for preferring just hooking up a console and playing the game that way is just low. It's just circuits and other assorted electronics that work to display and do things on a screen, not a religious monolith like these tools make it out to be. The only reason to pull that sarcastic and attacking tone is when console users spread misinformation or attack them, but they have a right to do so in return when PC gamers do the same thing.

 

XBOX Fans are catching up with them. The Dumbassery, elitism and lack of grasp of reality is starting to over take PC Gamers, to the point where Level headed XBOX fans are the Minority. OH BUT don't get me wrong, I HATE PC gamers too. These Master Race Real gamers game on PC, STEAM FTW, Losers who love to toss around the term Console Peasants are the kinds of people I just want to punch in the face until they ain't moving no more.

 

The discussions about keyboard and mouse versus controller are the best! (the worst really)

But seriously. The internet is a vast place. If you don't get along with one community, simply turn your back on it and find another - let the trolls fight it out between themselves. Life's too short to deal with all of the assholes, don't waste your time.

 

I was just sort of thrust into these fanboy wars I guess it's a side effect of social media. The wrong kinds of people find you and you have to blast them with Zingers to shut them up.

 

I'm the only one watching those flame wars with a huge bag of popcorn?

P.S. Any PC or console "crusader" can print his/her very important opinion on a back side of sandpaper and shove it up his/her butt with a help of a hammer handle.
