That's at the core of it, I think. Gamurr nurdz are trapped by the concept of what they *might* do *some day*. "I need a 12-core Xeon CPU because I *might* want to run a bunch of VMs simultaneously some day. I need 64GB of RAM because I keen eleventy billion tabs open because I *might* need that particular snapshot of that particular page some day." This is then re-enforced when they build their monster rig, and do some crazy OTT shit just because they can, so they next day they can justify it "Well last night I had to run 8 Leenix VMs and the Xeon handled it great", and the cycle is complete. It filters thru in advice given as well. "Don't bother with anything but a GTX 1080 Ti *just in case* you want to do XYZ one day."
These days everyone is wound up and takes everything personally. Its the new thing to be outraged over nothing.
That makes no sense! How dare you judge people that don't agree with you! And call them wound up? You pathetic couch philosopher! [sarcasm]
"I just got a new watercooling chamber for my hyper-overclocked GPU that's 2x the size so i need to buy an even bigger power supply and I think I'm going for 64 GB RAM" "What kind of hard drive do you have in your rig?" "Seagate 5400 RPM"
I have been playing NHL 17 of late and been wrecking kids. Cannot tell you how many death/rape threats I have in my message box.
