It's been there longer then I can remember or at least a year anyway.... the one in Mandarake has also seemed to sprout roots. Although there is a games shop in akihabara (the one next to G-Front) which has a gold super dodgeball cart in a nice looking presentation case and a plaque which has been there since at least 2004 and they are only asking 600,000 yen for it...
If you want, I write a review (in french) about my Akiyamajin : http://nekofan.free.fr/akiyamajintest.htm
Great, it basically says "It's in Japanese, it's not very good, it's expensive which means it's an ideal game for a slightly mad PC Engine collector" doesn't it?
That's "Friends". They have the stupidest mentality. "We're further from the station, rent is most likely cheaper, but we're going to charge more than the shops over there for our games". I miss Trader2. I wish they were heavy into retro like before.
i always felt that retro friends is overall about 10% cheaper than super potato etc. as for PC Engine stuff i can say that for sure! and sometimes when the oba(a)-chan is there, she gives you an special "gaijin discount" of 10% (normally for stundents only). did you once check that "new" store just called retro-games on the other side of chûo-dôri? that bastrad is really overpriced. would say about 30~40% over super potato. damn!
I quite like friends as they feel like what a retro shop should be like. Prices can vary but on the whole they are cheaper then Super Potato but on the other hand do have less stock then SP. The other retro shops that have popped up are a joke with prices. Yeah I miss Trader 2 too, they always seemed to get good stuff in from time to time, I also missed the small retro Sofmap that was on the same road as Super Potato and I also miss Maxload as they had gamer quality titles at cheap prices as well as supporting the PC-9801 and other weird machines. Still I like friends as it is out the way and is less likely to get loud gaijin in them.
I just went around Akihabara yesterday and felt a little bored/disappointed with its situation now. Although Super Potato is there and has a great selection, the prices aren't wonderful. Sometimes they put all the games for one system (eg GameGear) on sale, but usually they're pretty high. And that "Retro" shop is just a net for ensnaring beginners with ridiculous prices... I miss the atmosphere of the small shops both in Akihabara (and in other small towns...) Do you guys know any places around Tokyo that have good Mom 'n Pop-style game shops?
Akihabara is mostly for the dumb white man/woman with his/her list of must have games. Stores jack up the price just for this reason alone. The days of all those classic shops that could only fit 5 people in are almost if not already gone in Tokyo. Thank God other parts of Japan still have a plentiful sellection of these shops. Yakumo
Well..rare item? Check. Sealed? Check. PCE item? Check. A combination of those three = big money. Although I'd be pissed to spend that much on a faded item. Why is it that in general the janapese really seem to look after their games..except for sunfade? The amount of lovely games/gaming items I have seen that have been ruined (imo of course..if you don't mind 'the fade' then good for you) is quite staggering.
That's not a bad price. Standard price on Yahoo Japan opened is about 300,000 yen. If you want overpriced, go to Media Land. Delisoba Deluxe for 100,000 yen. You can find it for 50,000 yen just down the street (even in Super Potato if I'm not mistaken). "Retro Games" is a joke. It is beyond a joke. It is more expensive than Ebay was 10 years ago. Akiba is way more of a tourist attraction now than it was years ago. It's still like what? .5% foreigners? Those shops are still aimed at Japanese people. Remember, Japanese people are afraid of the internets.
Retro Friends has a non-faded and sealed Delisoba for 95'000. @wheelaa Why faded? I considered that Akiyama jin to have regular colors.
Ah I see ^^ Well if I were about to spend 380'000yen on that thing, I would have taken a closer look. ^^"
Thanks for answering my question. What is that seller thinking? It makes me angry sometimes when they list jacked-up prices like that.
Yeah... nice mobile phone camera for 4 years ago. Didn't this thing come w/ a letter as well? And why the hell did they make a gold version of this game? That's like making a gold version of Duck Hunt.
You can make your own with some label remover, a white PC engine case, some gold paint and some transparent yellow film and some transparent glue.
