I think I recognise this place, it's owned by a guy in a village a good few hours away from Chicago, he in the past bought arcades in large job lots and sticks all the arcades in poor condition in the basement, most of what you see is how he got it. He has some really nice stuff too which is on a different floor and building. He owns an ex village supermarket building just to store all these items and most of the other buildings in a square.
I could post one about an item I bought on here from a member. It was a DTL-H10030A HDD for Ps2. It arrived with no outer packaging, he had just taped up the original sony box, so removing the tape from the box, ripped part of it off. I was NOT Happy.:crying:
Who in their right mind would think someone would buy that shit? Some people are idiots. In fact, I find the whole setting up an auction on EBay more of a pain than it's worth. Yakumo
Define "Modified". Does "thrown down the stairs and stepped on" count as modified these days? Dear god.
I am not sure if you are joking or being serious - but if its the latter, by "modified" I meant that the owner had added left and right phono jacks to the back for audio, had widened the cartridge slot, disabled the lockout chip, and I think it had a 50Hz/60Hz switch as well. The seller listed it as 'modded' and mentioned it was 'probably worth a bit' due to all the mods! I think its surprising that it had all these mods and yet ended up in such terrible condition - in my experience the sort of people who are into modified retro consoles usually take care of their consoles.
I thought you were being sarcastic when you said it was "modified". What, did this guy think smashing it open with a rock was a better way getting to the insides than a screwdriver?
People sell pratically everything on ebay. It's the same with mercadolivre. It actually reminds me of a Big Bang Theory joke: Raj: Hey, look, I found an iPod! Wolowitz: It’s smashed beyond repair, what are you going to do with it? Raj: What else? Sell it on ebay as "slightly used".
Yeah, I was joking. I know what mods go on the Snes. But this... this is the mod to END all mods. Dayum!
I don't know how to describe this. It's the most beautiful topic I've been in, being that I'm a dumpster diver, and love getting bargain games, yet it's also the saddest, because of the neglect and horrific deformation of such consoles. Oh well, I'll just sit back and laugh knowing none of these are mine.
One assumes that given the nature of the people this is a picture from Taiwan or Hong Kong (it's not likely to be Japan due to the machines shown...). Going on what Taucias said, try hard to find one proper arcade game in there... most of the cabinets are likely to be cheap and plasticy local made units so are probably in shite condition anyway and most are swps, mahjong or quiz machines....
I can see quite a few Astro City looking cabs in there. Even if they were home to shit games the cabs would be worth having.
