I don't have one either. I guess I am just going to have to settle for the PS3 I have until I can find one of those ultra-rare Wiis...

Man I wish my teachers were as cool as to be collectors and gamers xD

Yakumo, what's the verdict on Virtua Console (notice Virtua , like in Virtua Racing and fighter :p ) regarding MegaDrive emulation, in your opinion?

No idea because my Wii isn't on line. I never bought the Lan box for it thinking that I could use my PC BB modem but I can't because the buggers didn't give it a built in LAN connector :(

Well if you haven't got a wireless router, the USB WiFi dongle isn't bad at all. The only down-side is that your PC must be on.

On the other hand, if you have got a router and you don't mind cables, go and get the USB2.0 adaptor - both should retail around the same price.

Playing Sonic 1 can never be bad, no matter how many times one does it, so run to the stores ;)

That's if you can open it. I put more tape on that than all the boxes I've sent you this year put together.

A lot more tape than that  It's got that string type tape on it in parts but mostly this very nice clear tape so you can see the smiley oranges on the box

@Barc0de, What should I buy to get my Wii on line 24hours a day? Now my PC is connected to the net via a normal BB modem (12MBPS) which connect to the socket in the wall. I need the PC Online all the time because of the FTP server. So basically I need a way of getting the Wii and the PC both online through the same BB connection. Can it be done?

Yakumo if you have a spare usb port free just buy a nintendo ds wifi dongle.

It creates a wireless access point that works with both the ds & wii, once installed you just set up your wii & hey presto, online connection.

Thats how i'll be doing mine til the lan cable usb adapter comes out in dec sometime.

    Yes.

    There are Three ways.

    1) The nintendo WiFi USB dongle. It's pricey (for what it is) and it can only be used with a DS or Wii (with unmodified drivers). It occupies one USB port and gets pretty hot when plugged in continiusly. The fact that your PC is on 24/7 means that it can be left on as well with it.

    2) Buy a router. A standard (non-wireless point) Router distributes your connection into internal (infernal:p) IPs, assigning each device you hook up a specific IP. Think of it as a cross-road of sorts. The downside is that you will need to buy the Nintendo USB RJ45 adaptor, to make your wii have a wired connection to the router.

    3) A Wireless Router. Don't buy just any brand. Consult internet databases on suggested and fully supported Routers for your nintendo products. This includes the DS and the Wii. Linksys is the name to be after, as for the exact model number, look it up.
A wireless router offers wired ports (so you can plug-in your PC/server) and wireless signal to communicate with your WiFi enabled devices, such as the Wii or DS. Its operation is exactly the same as the wired router.

The funny thing is that a Wireless Router, costs as much (maybe a bit more) as a Nintendo USB WIFI dongle (for the PC). In that sense, the cheapest solution and most professional, would be to get a proper wireless router (Linksys brand, look up models for yourself in the supported list). So, even if you have your PC off, your router is on 24/7 and consumes much less power than your PC.

For me the winner is a good wireless router. Keep in mind though, that at first you might be shocked that you have to "set it up" with internal IPs , port forwarding etc. Be patient and feel free to ask us here on the boards (I'm sure there's people more qualified on networks than I am, I just learned stuff out of personal use and setting up my home wireless access point for my parents). If I can do it, so can you :)

here's some I got from my vacation.

bought the FLCL manga and the Ghost in the shell collection at Forbidden Planet, and the Dead Leaves DVD at some virgin store in London.
The rest I bought when staying at my parents home the week after. Found a place that sold some xbox games for around $14 so altogether I got 4 games for around the price of one normal priced

THanks for the info guys. Maybe the Nintendo WiFi thing is easiest to use. Do I need WiFi in my area for it to work or does it com efrom the PC or something? I'm really dumb when it comes to this WiFi thing. Anyway, I think I should take this to PMs and stop jacking this thread

You install the software. You plug the nintendo wifi adaptor in the bum of your PC, and it emmits WiFi. Then you logon from your Wii choosing the WiFi connector setting. Thats that.

    Hello,

In my experience Wifi router is the less painfull solution I have a Linksys WRT54G which I recommend to you. It's true you need to do some initial settings on that to get it working but it's quite easy and I can give support on that particular model. Plus you get the benefit of having a hardware firewall which is very secure and IMHO much better than a software firewall. The WRT54G is inexpensive and Linksys support is great and in case of breakdown send you replacement asap.

The Nintendo Wifi dongle seems to be an allright solution but a router will give way more flexibiliy and possibilities than the dongle. I'm using mine to plug my PCs, PS2, Xbox360, PSP... Been using mine for 2 years, on 24/7, never brokedown and don't need a PC on to get on the net.

I agree with sabre. I got a wireless netgear router for my nintendo ds, and its perfect as it also allows me to hook up my 360 and comp to the same conenction.

Once you get the router setup(which is painless after following instructions) you just connect your console to it and your off.
