i did that to someone once, it was for an amiga cd32 console, they wanted £10 for it boxed, someone was trying to haggle the price, i saw it, saw the price sticker, shoved a tenner in the sellers hand and walked away! (very fast as the other buyer was a big burly chap with a tattoo on the side of his head!)

as for the black psx, id love one of those to add to my collection

He was asking $25, but not sure what he sold it for. I assume he got that or less. He said it was a US system in mint like new condition. He was pushy on it but I had my sights on the old style playstation because of the audio output on it (there was a video on youtube from G4 channel that said they are worth $5,000!!). I only had $20 on me and I only wanted the playstation. I wonder if he would have taken $20 for the black ps2.

(Isn't $25 USD the same as a tenner in British Pounds or close to it?)

    EDIT #3:
I went back to the garage sale and asked if he had any other stuff and he said no. I asked how much the things went for and all FOUR items sold for $40!!! (Including the sealed psone combo and wine). NOW I'M PISSED. I wouldn't have minded picking up the combo unit.

PS_Monitor, you've just missed one of the rarest Sony related console items you are ever likely to have been within 5ft of. A PS2 for $25 is £12.50 and in MINT condition I'd have STILL bought it thinking it was a PS2, got home and been delighted to discover it was a 10millionth edition!

No point crying over spilt milk now, but if the seller got $40 (£20) for the lot then some other lucky ba*tard is out and about in your hometown. Unless they are collectors, then lets expect a very nicely priced item to appear soon on US eBay. (Eyes peeled folks)

As for the supposed $5000 unit (It was actually being hyped to $6000), it's not worth a fraction of that.

Imho it's worth no more than $100 in mint, boxed and pristine condition to a PS fan. Audiophiles expected a $6000 sounding CD player are going to be disappointed and paying anything above $100 is a waste.

Well, it's a valuable lesson for future bargain hunting (although THAT was just an unbelievable bargain) - don't hesitate. At those prices you could afford to fuck up! $40 is peanuts when collecting consoles. But hey, it's not worth worring about now.

If you want to know more about the Sony PS1 10millionth edition, just type it into Google. Nice bit of kit and in that condition it would have fetched a lot more than the SCPH-1001. :-(

Wow, I feel hurt just reading all that.

The best finds I ever found were RE:CVX for the Gamecube for 8 dollars at GameCrazy, and LoZ: Collector's Edition for GCN at a flea market for $20. I resold both for a little over twice their value. Man, and I thought I came upon good finds...

GameCrazy is doing 2 for $5 on all pre-PS2 games in the U.S.A., at least in my area (California).

Wow, my eyes still hurt reading that.

FYI, I'm not visiting this thread ever again. I won't cry over spilt milk, but I will be pissed.

Snap! I have one as well. Rarely use it though as it's a pretty old lady and I have younger versions that can do the same. Shame it is unboxed. My last unit cost about £15.

All of the games were sealed, so the stickers were just on the outer wrapper. Even so, I was able to remove every sticker while keeping the games 100% sealed :)

These were purchased at a warehouse store, in The Source chain (would be Radio Shack in the states). They were clearing out all their old GBA titles... I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I plan on going back there today to see if they have any more deals :)

unbelieveable purchase: got a pack of games from ebay more than 6 month after the auction ended ... pretty cheap ending auction but very rare Philips Videopac (=Magnavox Odyssey2 in US) game from france (Jopac Laser ... not that anyone here would care about that ...) ... the unbelieveable thing is, that the sender always kept me waiting for it and i wouldn't have bet a penny that I would ever get it ... but I kept sending him nice (REALLY !! I was always very polite like "hey, whats up ? the games haven't turned up here yet, let me know") and it really paid off in the end ...

I got a Xbox360 VGA cable for $15. They retail for at least $40, I think...
    Great deal imo.
