Just picked up a PS4 with controller for $150 on ebay. Seller, who is a e-waste recycler, says it has no HDD inside but comes up to Safe Mode screen at least. I received it today. Has stock 500gb HDD inside, all it needed was a restoration update, found on the official PS4 website, updated it and it works fine. Spins discs smooth. Hell of a deal.

    (forgot to update)
shouted in chatbox and forgot to add it here.
    scored two mc's, one official 256m 360 mc and an n64 1m third-party mc. :smile-new:
so that puts me one+ n64 mc over the four previously. (still can't find any vibration cards, not a req)
the 360 has both it's mc sockets filled, can't identify hw batch numbers, id's were pulled off when the shop i got it from used sticky labels, and removing them peeled the mc label print/barcode off. my original one has some print, but i can't make it out/fill in the blanks. (permanent apps at those locations methinks)
it's been solid trying to find 360 mc's, harder than finding n64 mc's, regardless of manufacturer/condition. :concern:
    for above.
why i don't do ebay, seriously, i'd sooner get shafted with a broken glass bottle than take a crapshoot on those 'money grabbers'...
good thing HARD CURRENCY still holds sway, i give him 'x' amount of pounds (and a few more for time/effort/RISK on his part) with a clear request followed by the phrase 'make it so' and sure enough, with time, it is made so. (that escrow service is a belter, but i've not been able to get use out of it...YET! different location should help?)
    [edit]
paid two gbp for the n64 mc and one gbp for the 360 mc...

    ^^ wasn't expecting that. :smile-new: (but i got a good rib-snapper seeing it, thanks :wink-new: )
just a joke, reminds me of my n64 setup.
all the sockets on console are filled with pads as well as their respective mc sockets with mc's...
none of my friends will indulge on a IN-HOUSE (not online, i repeat, NOT ONLINE!) mp game that's simultaneous play, just games where the player takes turns, like some coin-ops and DEFINITELY pinball games, one on-deck at a time, til life lost, ball panned or level completed...pass the pad/keyboard.

He he glad I could be of service ;)

I know, I'm really not a big fan of online games mostly because I'm rubbish at them especially FPSs, nothing beats a game of Bomberman on PCE or SNES with 4-5 people in the same room.

My brothers GF found it in a dumper,he gave to me and it had the YLOD,used a heat gun and adding new thermal paste and she's alive and working.

I was hoping I could install CFW to it but it had 4.11 on it,oh well lol

And it had 3 disc stuck in the drive, got them out but there were shitty kid movies- haha

No idea how people shove many discs into the drives. I worked in a game store for 2 weeks, and we had a woman come in with her kids along with a PS3. 10 discs were shoved inside it, we were all scratching our heads.

Another playstation related story, same store but another week. A lady comes in and says her PSP won't read UMDs, so we are asked if she had them with her. She opens the UMD door and removes the UMD. Believe it or not she broke the fucking thing out of the plastic cases the UMDs are designed to be in and put the discs in that way. We honestly wouldn't believe it. Can't remember what she said when we told her that's not how to use them, but what the fuck?

Idiot Guide to run PSP games...

Step 1: Find something to open the UMD case.

Step 2: Gently split the case into two

Step 3: Remove the Disc from the case...

Step 4: insert the Disc into the PSP Drive slot and play your games..........................................................NOT!

The UMD one was pretty common. Used to get people coming back and yelling at us for "treating them like thieves and not removing the security cases from the discs, wasting precious time" and so-on. Needless to say, many left the shop with red faces once they were shown how the PSP reads the freaking UMDs and it magically won't if the disc was out and if they pulled the disc out, it's not our problem if they didn't read the manual for the portable. >_<

oh, what fresh hell is this?! :concern:
NEVER heard of that happening, must get out more.
    ...
    really?
it's common-sense, EVEN without documentation, the disk housing has a slice for the optics for a start, not to mention having that opening would be counter-productive to it being a 'media case'...
the rails on the psp umd drive tells the same story, in reverse.
the bloody rails on the drive drawer are made for the umd media housing.
if ANY optical media (for read/write use) was to be in contact with another surface (not counting disk spool the drive bore grips) i'd be wanting some questions answered, not right. (goes against logic)
