Well I for one am excited about this. We're one step closer to replicating the experience of going out and actually doing things, without actually, you know, going out and doing things.

please shut up on how they're not reliable, right now that's just false propaganda you're spreading.
you don't have a xbox 360 system(if you've had it and it broke on you, by now situation has changed dramatically).
I'm on my first 360(over 3 years) and works perfectly.
current 360's with jasper chipsets are extremely reliable.

    there's a chicken-egg issue here as well..

both the PS3's wand and Natal are dandy and all but since they're not standard features on their respective consoles, it's hard to imagine any "proper" franchises supporting them as their main user interface - they can be optional at best. No company would risk to blow millions of dollars worth of game development on supporting a peripheral [as the main user interface] that most users won't purchase - and that's the hard truth with introducing peripherals this late into a console's lifecycle, let alone pricing it that high.

It's the same reason why nintendo built the Wii around the new controller instead of just keeping the GC alive on a respirator.

did you just compared gamecube to 360 in terms of success and longevity?
Xbox 360 moves more software than other stationary systems, no sense in entering the market with a new console when current just spreads its wings, I'm telling you this in case you didn't know ;-) (according to you 360 is a dying system...)

    **cough**E74**cough**

I think you're just lucky Princess, lots of my friends had either RRoD or the E74. Reliable my ass.

But I still want to get a 360, it has lots of great games.

they are very reliable, I know people who had ps3's and Wii's dying on them, does that make them not reliable in general?
    of course not.

This is the most accurate E3-related post I've seen.

This perhaps the most inaccurate. Worldwide, the Wii crushes it. What Barc0de said is pretty spot on. The market is afraid of addons.

maybe I should have elaborate further on the subject.
on a scale - console to game basis, 360 wins (I meant states wise, that's why npd numbers say in general, of course stuff like wii fit sells and so on but in general 360 moves the most software here, ds excluded, something like 6 games to 1 system ratio).
you're posting from Japan, so you might not care for npd numbers or how microsoft does in states ;-)

    What?

Buying a 360 is totally worth the risk of the RRoD. It has a lot to offer, and a 3 year warranty. There must be something else stopping you.

The RROD is just the 360's way of saying "Sorry I can't do that dave"

I broke one once simply by turning it off before the disk tray had completely retracted.

you said software. Peripherals, and especially at 200$, have never been known to cover but a small demographic % of each console's userbase. That makes sense if you think that most folks who own any console don't give a flying fuck in buying peripherals besides standard controllers.

This is why nintendo shoved a Wii remote and Wii sports to force-feed the new technology to every single buyer of their consoles. The 360, especially with its perceived "hardcore" appeal, will in my view have a hard time convincing gamers 200$ are worth for a novelty, a peripheral that most games won't use.

Natal is best left for the next XBOX in my view if they want to capitalize on it.

Sorry for cursing and swearing, but can somebody put a cock or a muff in Princess-Isabela´s mouth , since her fanboyism is the usual shit. And for what I have read on this board, then the 360 are NOT very reliable , and I believe some of you have had a few 360´s that went AWOL , heck if I am not mistaken ASSEMbler himself had three 360´s that went RROD , so Princess-Isabela please shut your pie hole, since it doesn't make it better that you are raving for a 360 win.

I hate adding fuel to the fire but seriously, if you buy a 360 and it rrods or e74's it's not like your suddenly going to explode and it's going to ruin your gaming forever. Going a week or two without a game system shouldn't ruin everything for a person. Systems that are both new and repaired have been pretty solid as of late.

OKAY, just reading that pisses me off. Cock or muff? I know you don't speak english well, but good god. Fuck the fuck off.

PhreQuencYViii: the last time I checked then the muff was the slang for a hairy beaver. And about me not speaking English well , is not the issue here. But the mainpoint is, reliability of the xbox360 and the opinions on that are diverse. Some of the lucky ones are those who have had one xbox360 and never had any problems with their console. But I believe I have read quite a few horror stories from around here with xbox360´s going AWOL so could we please get back to the topic, and not my remark. About the fangirlism if you prefer that word instead. And actually, my written English is not enough proof that I have a terrible spoken English. Since I know my commas are flying all over the place, but at least there are commas and what not in my replies. But then again would you have attacked some one else, if they had written the exact same reply , as me ? After all, what you are pissed off about is my blatantly sexist remark. But if that rocks your boat, then fine by me. Since I have read worse stuff coming from other members than that. And I did not write the remarks back then, but I probablæy went into stupid arrogant flaming mood. But hey past is past .

wolvie, cool down. just cool down.

BTW as a personal experience and between all my friends that have new gen. consoles the x360 is something like 5 times more unreliable than ps3 or wii.

might just be a batch problem tought, who knows?
