I m willing to bet money that "a whole lot of people" are not even 50% of the currently established market share of the XBOX 360. It is people like you and I that have a deep gaming culture and are perhaps early adopters of revolutionary ideas in the form of peripherals. History has shown that peripherals have a low penetration rate for established users, especially those priced as high as this one. This is a bonus feature, it's not the main course for XBOX 360 owners. 360 owners have SO many good games to play that don't need Natal and that's why so many people, especially the "hardcore", love the 360, because they can play games with a pad.
Thats my concern as well, but now that I think about it... The Wii has sold tons of addons, along with Guitar Hero, Rock Band, 360 vision camera, etc. They are all in the same league with Natal, compared to something like the 32X. It'll be interesting with how it plays out.
again, a ton of peripherals is only but a slight margin of the established user-base, even for the relatively popular music-add ons. What nintendo has done with the Wii remote is marketing genius with regard to introducing a new controller interface. On the other side of the scale, not many folks own a classic controller for the Wii for example. All I m saying is that both Microsoft and the developers and subsequently the users, will benefit the most if Natal is an integral and important part of the XBOX franchise, something only possible and with a 100% penetration rate when you pack it in with a new console. It would also assist in marketing the new console, giving it that pizzaz that the Wii had when it launched. Of course they best throw a regular controller in there as well, this way they ll cover both ends but I wonder how much such a new console would cost. The good news is that mass production reduces component prices, hence why Natal will have a better fate if it's released 1-to-1 with each new console, preferably of the next generation, so to make its appeal wider, drive prices lower, and be appreciated as a true and integral part of the XBOX experience.
What about Motion Plus? to me it seems like that would be a tougher addon to sell. It really should have come with it but I guess that wasn't feasable back then. I just don't see that selling, not because it isn't cool, but because of what it is. I guess it's cheap though.
Princess-Isabela: lower your standards ? well if you saw the mainpoint of my message which is true then it is this. The build quality of an xbox360 is worse than any PC, I have ever had. But the console in itself is a great console. It is just BAD that the console has such a shitty build quality. But if you still want to defend its questionable build quality with your fangirlism , you need to read all the other replies from the other members. Cause the build quality is fucking bad, and fanatism makes people blind. If you ask me what I would do with an xbox360 .. if I bought one, well I would try to get a case mod for it. So it could get better, but the main issue is. That their build quality is fucking bad. And Isabela I am not really a male chauvinist pig, actually I have defended more women than I count , in my life. Whether they were transgendered or for that matter gay, to me it did not matter. but yes I did use some serious sexist words.
360 quality was questionable to say the least WHEN IT CAME OUT, over the course of years they managed to overcome most of the obstacles and everything is on right path now(it took a long time). jaspers did eliminate rrod problem, but on the other hand e74 problem emerged(read that on several occassions), but in general they are great right now(and I mean right now, so if you'll get a 360 make sure it's a jasper unit). on top of that they have extended warranties so if your system dies, you will get it repaired at no extra charge. I already pointed out, I'm not a fanboy, I have all systems and play them all on a regular basis, that gives me unbiased point of view, something you're clearly lacking. if by now you're still saying "I won't get one because it will break on me" - it's a cop out and you don't care for all great games you'd play on it. but seems like your mind is already made up so...:katamari:
Yes I do, why shouldn't I be doing that ? the game I am playing at the moment is Kingdom Hearts II, the next one I am thinking of playing is Devil may Cry 3 or Devil May Cry 3 special edition. But when I am playing PC games, then it is mostly the older SSI rpgs which needs more hours of play than many RPGs needs in comparison till todays RPGs. And then I am trying to get into the old game series Bards Tale.
Microsoft says Rare has several games in development that make use of Natal. http://kotaku.com/5279213/microsoft-rare-working-on-numerous-natal-projects This is good news. I like Rare games. :icon_bigg PS. I love how everyone just links to Kotaku these days.
I liked Rare games back in the 90s, after that they've just consistently sucked, and I blame this on many of the original members leaving for that Timesplitters company after Microsoft bought Rare.
I loved Rare games and I still respect them for their craftsmanship - the content just isn't that exciting any more. The last game I enjoyed by those talented folks was Kameo.
Kameo was a good game, but it didn't measure on the same scale of greatness as some of their previous works for Nintendo. But for a launch game, it's great.. and for 5 bucks at Gamestop, even better! Perfect Dark Zero was kinda embarrassing. Either way though, besides these launch titles, not much else has been done by them. I'm honestly wondering how much longer Microsoft will keep them with games like Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, I don't see it being very profitable for Microsoft, or good for it's reputation. I know some people like N&B, but honestly, I thought it was horrible. I had such high hopes for it too, but the demo kinda sent a clear signal to me that this wasn't the same bird and bear I had grown to love. I know they want a more kid friendly line of games. That's been evident for few years now, but I'm just not sure Rare is really up to it anymore. Like you guys said before, the main talent of Rare is long gone.
They've done a lot besides games for MS, like the whole avatars thing, along with a lot of other unreleased stuff. Totally agree with PDzero. It's not horrible, but it's not worth playing for a lot of people. I liked Viva Pinata a lot, but yeah, they have yet to put out a massively successful game like on the Nintendo 64. I think that a proper Perfect Dark 2 could be a totally AAA title though.
Yay, Kotaku link. http://kotaku.com/5279531/microsoft-project-natal-can-support-multiple-players-see-fingers I, for one, am just happy the thing works and they weren't tricking people.
