I've just been contacted and I should have one of these in about a week and a half. I will post my results as soon as I get it. Hawk
If you mean the OZ Modchips site, then yes. It seems to be working at the moment though. So then, anyone feeling rich enough to order one and test it out?
Wow 170 dollars is a lot of money for something that is not forced to work in the future. I'm guessing the product is not just the average USB stick with modded software on it. Could it be from the guy that claimed he had found a PS3 JIG (Pandoras Battery sort of thing on the PSP) when his console came back from Sony after being repaired? Could have found a way to replicate it and get some Chinese mass production going.
Theres one on the way to me, should be here in like a week and a half. I'll let you all know whats going on once I get it. I contacted them earlier today, and have since been exchanging emails with them and will have one as soon as possible. Hawk
Was going to say this. So far I don't think anybody has verified that it can run anything other then make backups of the disc. Interesting note. In the pictures where the device makes a backup of the disc, It looks to be doing a file copy and not a raw iso rip. The thing list off file names.
If it does use official SDK Tools, with no license, they better run. Anyway, i hope Sony fix this. This is just a piracy intended product, and Sony will probably ban people using it.
I don't think the pirates will care ... lol Anyway, SONY will just do what they aways do, buy one, analyze how it hook on the system and add an extra layer of encryption or blacklist the device itself (along with the original one the pirates copied). So "System Update tomorrow"...
I saw a new youtube video. Seems like it does run backups. I'm sure they won't need to Analise it. They probably know how it was done (using one of their own exploits). I do think we'll see a new firmware next week.
According to PS3 news someone has patched the pkg file that was on their site to work with PS3 test units so they can play back ups from hard drive. Not sure how much is concrete at the moment but if someone here has a test (which I know a few do ) might be worth checking out to see if its true!
Just making it clear, by "original one the pirates copied" I meant what Subbie refers as "one of their own exploits" (probably the feature that allow them to un-brick PS3s with damaged system software. lol
Since it can run homebrew as well as "backups" it's safe to say that it will sell very very well. I'll buy one.
