I know, what can be misleading about PSIO is that it is possible to do a thing similar to what they pretend they're going to make.
And yes, it would be interesting if someone serious designed a device like this, and possibly even released full source code and schematics for it. One can sell premade boards in order to turn a profit, anyway.
And yes, I would trust you smf, I know about the work you have done. :)

Is the first video supposed to be showing the game running off an SD card or not? If so the fact that it's not got one plugged in is a big tell. Although looking at the extra screen attached I'm guessing it's just some injection from a debugging station.

Anyway something doesn't smell right with this, mainly because Haunted didn't even know what some basic terminology meant when he first appeared, I severely doubt this is legit and if it is, it's not his.

The big casualty will be when he starts asking for paypal donations or unit prices.

I will feel bad if he really has done this for the good of the community and makes it available to everyone but all of the mistrust and backlash is inevitable simply because of the way he acted on day zero.

@cybdyn, you should read carefully the licences of the third-party code you use to be sure to abide to them. It might not really be an issue in russia, but in america it's a big deal legally. Since psio is to be sold, the retailers could get into troubles.

Good luck on the project though!

Really I' don't have any word for your baby answers\actions.
Learn what is open source and when you CAN use. Remeber that source are created for PSy-Q sdk...
Also lear to give credits to people, and don't create fake accounts\delete post for hidding the truth.

Ah! Also i don't need to go on such site to know what is the truth. I'm smart enough to figure out if it is fake or not! ;)

Is this a murder board? Can we move on with the cool stuff?

    On a side note:
BTW, GPL has never been enforceable(at least here in the states). But all of that doesn't matter. If someone wants to pick apart PSIO code "after" it's release, and bash them that's cool. But getting pissed off at the "possibility" of reverse engineering someones code, on a console, that everyone wants to be reverse engineered is nuts. If it turns out to be a sham, and nothing gets sold, what has anyone lost? Just sit back, eat your popcorn and enjoy. Long story short quit bitchin. Short story PSIO team please give us more info.

I am sorry but you don't even know what you are talking about...
the GPL is legally enforceable in the United States, have you ever heard about the Busybox lawsuits?
This whole rant of yours comes out as "who cares, get code out of it while we're at it, it doesn't matter it's unenforceable anyway.."
.Another thing that shows your ignorance in the subject is the part about "reverse engineering" someone else's code... as if anyone really reverse engineered *open-source code*. Only code available only in executable form is reverse engineered..
    it's a useless hobby otherwise.
    EVERYTHING is the same.
Fonts, position of texts, even down to the images for the buttons.
Maybe there's a really slim chance they just read Gemini's code in order to learn from it - at this point they should reveal the code - it is a hobby project, right?
I look forward to downloading an archive containing the new PsioOS code - if they wrote it themselves without ripping anyone off, that shouldn't be a problem, right?
You realize the software can be open while the hardware isn't, don't you?
And possibly by today, the code archive needs to be uploaded somewhere for peer review.

Just because something is settled outside of civil (not criminal) courts doesn't make it enforceable, never mind legally relevant at all. If you want something enforceable, get a patent.

Nope, what I'm trying to say, is until it comes out of nobody should complain unless they use it in there final production code. To which then they can give credit, or use something instead of the said code. I'm not condoning violations of any GPL(because that's uncool, not really enforceable, but still uncool)

Okay reverse engineered is a bad word, using code snip-its is a better one. But using alot "open" software tools, that we use every day is a violation of someones GPL if we make a profit, or somehow don't credit them in the process. Have you read some of the large GPL's?
Also I'm pretty sure if you read Sony's agreements, reverse engineering is against there license agreement(which also isn't very enforceable).
So we should ignore Sony's licenses but heed a GPL? And because it's a hobby, or you aren't a multinational corporation, makes it better?

Besides my poor choice of words, no matter how you slice it, almost all the party's involved are possibly breaking licensing agreements. Unless someone wants to break out the lawyers and hates money, just deal with it.

Until the "product" is released there is no way of knowing if they are going to steal anyone's code(and at that point they haven't even profited from it). Software is weird in the way if you want to steal someones code, just take all the possible derivatives out and learn how it works, then use it for your own doing.

In summary, wait until it is released to complain about it. Then take them to court and collect millions, or make a competing product... orr............quit whining.

Out off all of those choices, a competing product would be nice though.

I dont know why you think GPL isnt enforceable. Its the terms of the license, GPL or what ever else someone was to use - its the basics of contract law, the terms are laid out and if you dont abide by them - you get sued.

Ignore the word GPL and replace with license. Its completely enforceable, just because people settle before a lawsuit shows they think so too.

What are you even talking about? the GPL is 1 license, its the same each time. There is GPL v2 and GPL v3 too, but you pick and license and thats that. This just shows you dont even know what you are talking about.

I am pretty sure you are confusing GPL with EULA. And the only reason people think EULA's are unenforceable is because you often cant see the terms until you have bought the product and that some try to get you to give up your legal rights (which also isnt possible in contract law - you can sign something to say you are my slave, but that shit still wont fly as its illegal).

Alright I'll clear something up here, since your head is so far up your own asshole.

Haunted designed that from day one and got Gemini to build it because at the time Haunted was fairly new to programming. Now however, he has honed his programming skills and has drastically improved.

They didn't use Gemini's code because it was difficult to maintain, had uneeded and bloated functions and was missing the CD-ROM and FAT routines needed for PSIO

See, the name is there! Reason why it's not anymore is because they coded it from scratch (their own code) They couldn't even get Gemini's code to build. So I honestly don't see your bitching.
This is what haunted had to say to this drama.

To top this post off with your crying, the code will be released after a year of the PSIO launch.

I think you're forgetting bashing this project is not allowed on the forum. ASSEMbler said so a few months ago, you're lucky I'm not global moderator or your posted would of been deleted by me. Did I ever mention the "Hall of Shame" you have your signature makes you look like your head is even further up your ass?

Wow, I certainly cannot see any similarities at all between those images.
'To top this post off with your crying, the code will be released after a year of the PSIO launch.'
Oh for crying out loud will you actually just read the GPL, commercial or not you MUST open source software containing GPL code RIGHT AWAY if you offer it for sale or download or whatnot, and if you use code or libraries that rely on other licenses such as BSD or MIT then you HAVE, yes - HAVE, to do exactly as those licenses say.
The licenses are fully enforceable and are contracts.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, the EFF provide funds and services to prosecute companies and individuals that breach GPL licenses.

Bloated and difficult to maintain? Then you probably haven't seen a real API before, I'm afraid. There's a slight difference between some code that takes advantage of the hardware and some other that just outs everything to screen as 16 bit blits. Also, test modules can be disabled and most were coming from my PlayStation engine - they weren't even linked to the project, as the makefile kinda makes obvious.

Maybe he couldn't get it to compile it all because of the dependencies (I'm not expecting haunted to even know what a static library is), yet it was coincidentally using all my assets before I made a formal complain on my blog about icons, font, and all the other assets recycled as-is. Then again, I'm not sure how it can't compile when all the files are there and you only need to open the Visual Studio project, hit compile, and wait for it to be done. Honestly, that's the lamest excuse I've ever heard.

I'm not going to get too involved in this, but honestly I was having a go at the maturity this whole drama has hence the word "cry". I just see tails and a few other users coming off rather childish about this, you are all over 18 right?

I don't understand any of this obviously, I'm not a developer, I only posted what Haunted said, so what you guys say will be responded with his side of the story. Note: This isn't MY opinion.

Given his history of posting pretty much everywhere with fake accounts claiming to be supporters (or posers, considering that GeminiX prank he tried playing on me and which I was totally unaware of until just yesterday), I'm sure he can post stuff for himself all right.

Then could you guys leave it off the boards then?

I'm not going to get any more in depth with this. Please vent elsewhere.

I'm not the one who has brought it over here, sorry. I only made my position clear as some people seem to either speculate or get facts totally wrong.

No I'm not having a go at you personally, just everyone who's involved. It's been said already, and it's the same people at each other's throats.

@HEX1GON - I'm really surprised by what I'm hearing from you.

You're sticking up for one of the most hated and laughed at members of these boards when it is crystal clear that this whole thing is a rip off, you gave that away in one of your own posts where you paraphrased Haunted's own words: "the code will be released after a year of the PSIO launch" that's a classic Haunted thing to to say, it gives them long enough to make some money and yet by the time a year passes they'll have either modified it beyond original comprehension or reveal the truth but by then it won't matter.

As far as I can see tails seems to be the only one talking sense here and the first comment you made was calling him a prick…sorry who did you say were acting like children?

I was only giving haunted a chance to say what he wanted to say, guess you missed that :/

Yes I did call him a prick, but I'm not name calling, and shaming every corner am I? That's my point I'm making here. Hell many of them are acting like pricks, yes they have a point but the DRAMA part of this is just childish. I shouldn't of snapped at tails anyway, I just read what he said in a negative tone and really I shouldn't have. Apologies are given.

How am I 'sticking up' for him? I'm not really to be honest. It's just he's being attacked without being able to respond. So I gave him the chance. (I just don't like only seeing one side of a story)
For the record, I DIDN'T paraphrase anything, that's what he said.

Anyway, I maybe missing some information or a lot of information. My whole point of this is please keep it off the boards, it's annoying to see many users strangling each other throats -_-

Please note this everyone who wishes to continue.
