well.... its open source. Anyone can go build it. If many people here really want it, i can actually do a binary release, but i need to find the ~4 hrs to actually get around to it. i ll try it if i find time on Sunday, but no promises. tubo
vnc for it self is around since ages on pc and similar technologys i used it for example to control a server without a monitor, mouse and keyboard atached it transfers the screen and inputs via network to another system 10mbit network was fast enough to work normal stuff no video/ 3d was supported but that was like 4-5 years or so ago
If you want to build it faster than me, thats the one, just found it on the SVN: http://svn.ps2dev.org/listing.php?repname=psp&path=/trunk/psplink/tools/remotejoy/pcsdl/&rev=0&sc=0 You need to build PSPLinka nd RemoteJoy , the SVN version includes a PC app for remote controlling a PSP joypad, as well as providing the screen surface on your monitor. (see pcsdl sub folder) i ll look into building this for you. tubo
guys if you can do this i'll pay you a beer! erdinger pikantus is ok for you? Or better a Lowenbrau triumphator? Maybe if there ever be an assembler meeting in europe i'll manage to offer it for real
Hmm I wonder if this could be ported to linux and ran off a ps3. That way I could get psp on a tv screen. *scraches chin*
*points to arcade cabinet in 6 big pieces on his floor* OH: Gotta clean it, assemble it, move it into the bedroom, then i can go back to DD.
we just have to wait for such a meeting to happen by the way, when the application will be out, and if i can manage to make it work, i'll make an help webpage and give you guys credit for that. you have no idea how many people would love to play their games on a monitor or their VGA enabled 16:9 lcd tvs!
tubo was useful(?) i thought i'd be useful and have a go. Beer my way plz. I think i already have a working binary :-D but i do not have my PSP with me, so i cannot test it. Anyway, as far as the PC side of things go, i compiled against Linux. I cannot be arsed to set up a Windows PSPDEV environment sorry, so the binary on offer will only work on a Linux machine with libSDL installed. You could try it with Ubuntu , even from a live CD i would think. Anyway, the applicaiton in question is called remotejoy. There is one version of it that exports the PSP display surface to the PC. The one i compiled produces this output: $ ./remotejoy --help Remote Joy SDL for PSP (c) TyRaNiD 2k6 ./remotejoy: invalid option -- - Remotejoy Help Usage: remotejoy [options] Options: -p port : Specify the port number -i ip : Specify the ip address (default localhost) -m mapfile : Specify a file to map joystick buttons to the PSP -v : Verbose mode Of course, it will only work if psplink and remotejoy is running on the PSP end, and i don't have my PSP with me right now. For the brave, here are my compiled PC and PSP apps - CAUTION: i have no bad intentions, but i NEVER tested these. If they break your stuff, don't go yelling at me. You might need to rightclick-save-as those if your browser doesn't know what a .gz is. http://download.ngine.de/remotejoy-pcapp-linux-sdl.gz http://download.ngine.de/remotejoy-pspapp-prx-sdl.gz I will test this when i get around to it, and provide a step by step guide on how to make it work, should not be that difficult. let me know if you find out before me. tubo
i'll be waiting then i'm not brave at all and i'm at work also, how difficult is to setup a windows pspdev? i'm stuck with windows can't wait to hear news from you! oh, by the way,
pspdev on windows not very difficult, but basic shell skill is assumed. You will likely need Cygwin or MinGW on your Windows box so you can run GCC, thats a must have to compile the PSP executables. For the Windows executables, maybe you can also use Visual Studio, but i have not worked with it for some time. tubo
to backtrack a little - the psp2tv interests me in so far as I'd like to see what psx and emulated games would look like on a standard def tv or rgb monitor. maybe it's silly but I really like the idea of a portable rom box a la gp2x with the added bonus of being able to plug in an external controller (and I'm assuming ps2 compatible arcade-style joysticks would work too).
Thanks for the reminder i havn't updated my PSPLink for a long time, and that feature sounds really cool.
