It could be used as one but its pretty heavy for such use. It is more like a commemorative replica - the green Xbox lights up, and it has tiny Allen-head screws on the back to look like the full-sized prototype. I received it right around Xbox launch...
I don't even think I own anything which is rare! I have toys from sooty club, dennis the menace club, knuckles from burger king's kids club i have hundreds of comics, annuals from 60s-90s, old toys etc but no extremely rare games. take a look for yourself, I have perhaps 600 games, everyone of them is pictured apart from some new purchases and of course ive probably missed out a few but most are individually photographed http://dantesdarkplace.weebly.com/game-collection.html
I don't own too many rare things, I have an english copy pirate version of Earthbound inside of a Mother 2 famicom shell... I guess that would be what I'm most proud of, or it would be my CIB Link to the Past. I don't have a picture of Mother 2 right now, but here's Link to the Past http://i.imgur.com/8DR8e.jpg
I have this PSone dual shock controller. For some reason, it has black analog sticks instead of gray. It came out of the package like this. I'm pretty sure they are ps2 analog sticks. Never seen another one like it. Manufacturing error I suppose, but it's the rarest thing I own.
I don't have anything rare, really. I suppose the rarest is the Everdrive 64 (which plays ROM images on the N64, which is brilliant), the only backup device I have. I have a couple of limited edition consoles, but nothing exactly rare (i.e. limited as in different colour from the original, so there are probably tens of thousands of them around...), and a few limited edition games (i.e. in a metal box, or whatever, or (for modern generation consoles) with 'bonus' missons and weapons etc) which again are probably about as rare as sand in the Sahara. But I only tend to collect games that I want to play, rather than collecting for collecting's sake, so I'm not too bothered about something's rarity. And the machines I have aren't amongst the hardest to find stuff for (i.e. I don't have a Neo-Geo, or a Virtual Boy, or a Jaguar, I have an XBox 1, XBox 360, N64, PS2, PS3, and Gamecube).
Thank you for all that info scaramouche, greatly appreciated. Looks like ive got a real collectable on my hands now what to do.. (chuckle)
I certainly don't compare to a lot of guys on here, but my red box CIB everything JVC branded X'EYE with black text Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia is pretty damn hard to find. I seriously lucked out with this one since I know at least two people who only need the black compton's to find complete US SCD sets. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y98/dballin4/DSCN1422.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y98/dballin4/DSCN1424.jpg http://s3.beta.photobucket.com/user...s/Comptons Interactive Encyclopedia NFR v200S
Videogame-wise, it would have to be a Sony DAC. The controller is minty and is complete with box, instructions, and blueish baggie. Really it would be the packaging and insert that are actually "rare." The controller itself is uncommon, but no more than that. That's just entry-level rare though. I don't really possess much that is rare. *oh, I do have a 1.0 Xbox with NO updates to the dashboard. It was a Savers score for nine dollars. The date fit so I jumped on it because I wanted a dedicated PDO machine for 480p. When I got it home I was very pleased and a bit shocked to find that the dashboard had survived in that state. All the saves were launch/early titles!
I was just thinking today, I used to have my hands on the US military SNES target practice software with two guns... (two carts, as well). Had to give them back, though.
Green Gameboy Micro with an actual case- the case would probably be rarer as its an accessory made during it's short lifespan- Or perhaps an original Yellow Gameboy boxed with all leaflets in a blue box saying 'The world's best selling handheld'- however, I have not found another box like this on the internet- a potenial rarity?
This is more of a novelty than anything else, but one of my Victor Wondermega's was accompanied by a black collection CD (where they are normally red).
Not really a video game, but anyways, only 500 or so of this knock off to the furby ever made. They sometimes can get pricy on ebay. Seen a black version of this knock off go for $400 once. I luckily got this on amazon for only $50.
I've not got anything crazy rare, being a student and all, but I do have some interesting things I'd like to share First off is probably the rarest thing I own - a limited edition Mass Effect Renegade Kinect - I won it for coming third place in the "N7 Pride" category of Bioware's N7 Day last November. While I doubt it's something many collectors are searching for, all the info I could find on them suggests there are about 14 of these in existence - 7 Paragon themed and 7 Renegade themed. 5 of each style were given away in a competition when Mass Effect 3 launched, then another 4 were offered as prizes in the N7 Day competiton, so I'm assuming there were two of each style. Definitely a highlight of my collection, despite never really finding many excuses to use the Kinect . My camera's making it look paler than it actually is, it's more of a crimson colour. I'm a huge Mass Effect fan so I've also got all the limited editions - not very rare at all, but I've gotten them signed by three voice actresses: From left to right - Ali Hillis (Liara), Courteney Taylor (Jack), and Alix Wilton Regan (Samantha Traynor) I also got The Twin Snakes signed by Hideo Kojima - however he used a black pen so it's a little hard to make out on the box - look closely and you can see his trademark peace symbol though. Yoji Shinkawa signed the HD Collection Art book and drew that pretty cool doodle in it too I was very happy to find this in a local game shop a few months ago, although I didn't get it for a crazy bargain price (£95 with the controller and AV cable), it was still a bit cheaper than similar offers on eBay and I had wanted one for so long! It was good timing too, as I had dug out my old Mega Drive not long before then only to find out it finally died in it's long storage period . I picked up the Master System Converter not long after for £15, as well as my copy of Mega Turrican. It was harder to find at a sensible price than I thought it would be! Sadly it doesn't contain the manual, but it was a game I owned as a kid and desperately wanted to play again. Another thing I won was a special copy of The Last Story at a multiplayer deathmatch event. Those who came first place in a round won a copy, and I was lucky enough to snag one of the last ones (at least, before they ran out of the signed copies). It is signed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, who was in attendance signing items. I got him to sign my Final Fantasy IX Art Book as it was the only FF related item I had on me at the time (I'm a student and I was living in a small room so many of my things were back at home). Finally are my Dreamcast Japanese imports - it being one of my favourite systems I really wanted to import some interesting games for it. Sadly I've hit the attachment limit on this post, and I don't want to double post, so here's a link to them: http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q83/_Barnaby_/2013-04-1816-26-39019.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q83/_Barnaby_/2013-04-1816-39-15185.jpg Nothing too rare, at least I don't think so, but I got many of them for quite cheap on eBay a few years ago - Ikaruga was by far the most expensive at £44. All have manuals and their other inserts, along with their spine cards for many of them.
