What like a flashing flower in the rucksack?

Good work Dcharlie and Gaijinpunch for adding lots of new things. I will go and tidy them up next week so they are all uniform. Still lots of nice things. I might add the Washinomiya shrine in Saitama from Lucky Star, if we are going to have a gundam statue. ;)

I like the idea of color-coded parts of town. Probably easier for people not familiar w/ shop names...especially once it gets larger.

I think some pictures of the places, plus pictures of streets you should turn into would be good too, for example Mak Japan is off a small side road and is easy to miss.

Colour coded parts sounds good as long as it doesn't turn into a mish mash of coloured sqaures.

you can find a load of metal gear stuff in regular places like Yodobashi camera, not heard of a specific bricks and mortar Konami store to be honest.

They own a series of building and gyms though, with their logo in plain view.

yeah, our works gym got taken over by Konami - or at least , we got a whole bunch of Konami gym equipment.

The treadmills were utter garbage - nice high tech screens and touch panels but horrible running surface and the pace was WAY off. Ended up we had something like 9 treads but with 3 the old type - which would have waiting queues even when the konami machines were free :/

Can't handle treadmills. The boredom factor hits me after 20 minutes and I have to do something else.

i can handle them as long as i have the ipod. I quit the gym though because i'd started to do the to/from work route - and as per usual the gym costs were pretty unreasonable. Nice 13k route to work though , lots of ups and downs, so it makes it a lot more interesting.

Not done it in weeks though :/

I saw a 50 year old lady wearing a Motley Crue shirt yesterday...complete w/ upside down jew star.

We should probably both put this in the T-Shirts thread though, no?

Back on topic: Did anyone ever add that store that's out in the butt-fuck Egypt part of Chiba?

Hi I am going to Japan this Winter and I need some good hints from you guys where I can find some great retro stuff. I am really not interested in New Generation Consoles or Stuff.

I know the most common stores like Book Off, Mandrake or Super Potatoe but are there any other. I am in Tokyo and also Yokohama.

I am mostly looking for FAMICOM Games and a red Twin Sharp with workin Disk System, an MSX2+ console and MSX games, Mega Drive games, PC-Engine Games, Game Gear console new (a colored one blue or red) and Games, some Gameboy Games, Sega Mark III console and Games and maybe some PC88 or Sharp68000 Games.

Any good hints would help me a lot and can someone tell me where this Store or are there many of this branch? Because they have a huge amount of retro stuff:

    Thank you guys in advance

    Densha~

PS: And where are these Hard Off stores? Or better where is the biggest one with the most stuff in Tokyo?

PC-8801 software in a shop in Tokyo... hahaha, that's a funny one. Maybe 5 years ago, but nowdays you have no chance. Save a random hentai title that might appear in Super Potato every so often. Ditto with X68000 software, you might find a few random titles in Super Potato but these are likely to be hentai or strategy games. If you want X68 and PC88 games then use yahoo auctions and a bidding service.

You can find a reasonable priced Twin Famicom in Super Potato for under Y12800, if lucky you should be able to find a MSX 2+ too, I picked up a spare Turbo R A1-ST in there for Y12800.

MSX games can be found in Super Potato and Friends, although the best places I found was in Osaka...

There are other places mentioned in here so go and search for them. The place you gave a link to was from one of the members websites (hello Yakumo) and there are only branches in the far west part of Japan (further west then Kyoto...), be interesting to see how much they have changed as that is at least 4 years old now.

Game and Hardware prices vary a lot, so use ebay (you'd be surprised on how some games tend to be cheaper on Ebay then in Japan...) and a pen and paper to make sure you don't overpay, but don't leave stuff too long as one item in a shop might go very quickly...

As mentioned before there are no Hard Off stores in central Tokyo, just in the suburbs and further out, again they all vary in what they have and it's not recommended to go to one just in the vain hope they have something you might want. If you have a spare day and have nothing else better to do then visit one, and make a good map so you don't get lost.

    Up this thread!

Going Japan, Tokyo myself next week and found this thread to be very helpful!

Looking forward to shop for NeoGeo products on this trip. Have currently short-listed Super-Potato, Mandarake - Shibuya and maybe DenDen Town and Sofmap as prospective places from threads found here.

Would be great if you guys have any further information to share with regards to NeoGeo shopping. :)

Den-Den town is actually in Osaka, it's the Osaka's Akihabara. Not very close from Tokyo.

Akihabara for the most part. Easiest way from Akihabara: Get on the Yamanote-line bound for Tokyo (it will go over the top of the circle). Get out at Akihabara and follow the signs to the "Electric Town" exit. It's hard to miss. It really has turned into a tourist trap.
