just watched 9 and i must say that this is my most favoirte, most of the games covered(exculding the shite of the month) were great selections, and i must say i did enjoy hearing your review of Assault Suits Valken for super famicom, i have cybernator and just love the game (even though i can never get passed lever 3 since it is quite a difficult game), but i was always wondeirng if a japansese version exsisted based on the screens, and to be honest with you i had no idea it was callled Assault Suits Valken in japan and was published by masaya, plus i also didnt know konami butchered the U.S. games that much, since in the U.S. version it is quite difficult to follow the story since there is no heads next to teh text explainging what is going on, plus another site i was looking on info for it said that konami cut a good chunk of dioiluge in the game as well, after watching your review, i am now going to try and track down Assault Suits Valken for super famicom(though i will still keep my U.S. version which is cybernator). As well the other games covered were fantastic, i really enjoyed this one and please keep up the good work, you doing a great service to us collectors and those into retro gaming as we have no show that covers retro games as well as a show that focuses on the games themselves and not some stupied retarted skits that distract from the games themselve *cough*g4*cough*
just watched episode 9..great show Mate..just one thing though the sound is totaly fucked on the turtles arcade review as is the speed..i think your emulator wasn't coping at that moment
Really cool, as usual. I have always wanted to ask you about the opening music, though. Is this a remix of Ikaruga, or did the people who make Ikaruga copy the melody from a 90's shooter? You mentioned something about a Dreamcast emulator when playing a Mega Drive game. I didn't know that was possible. ¿How can I replicate that experience at home (if it's okay to ask you)?
Thanks for your comments Sayin999 and SilverBolt. Yeah, I know the sound is F*cked up on turtles and it's a little slow because I was running it on a Dreamcast Still, it gives people an idea of how it looks. I also used the wrong filters on my camera when recording Assault Suit Valken and Soldier Blade. They looked too white at times. I used the scan line filter instead of the Illumination filter :no Yakumo
XerdoPwerko: chankast could be a possibility. but Yakumo-san could you please show me a direct link to the number 9 torrent ?
You need to install special download software to get it from the BT seed. You can find links to down load via Bit Torrent from the Retro Core forum - http://kedora.net/?go=http://kedora.net/user/loginbypass?id=afe91782922b6678187e11078eb2184e (it maybe down sometimes due to the amount of traffic it gets. Yakumo
I didn't mean how to emulate dreamcast. I have one, so it's okay. I mean playing the Megadrive games on the Dreamcast. And that turtles game, as well. I knew of Colecovision and NES on Dreamcast, and DreamSnes which doesn't run that well, but didn't know of a Genesis/MD emu. I find that very interesting. About the torrent, yes, it was down friday morning, but then it was okay at night. Yakumo - Would it help the cause of Retro Core if I linked to its page from my website? If so, please tell me what kind of linking I can make (even to the downloads page, or something.) I'd love for more people to be able to see the show.
Yakumo: i use bittornado when it comes to the downloading from bittorent it was only the torrent file (since i know how to seed and share ) the seed aka torrent is in the filname a torrent
Good news for fans of URL downloads I'm now uploading Retro Core Volumes 8, 9 and 10 to http://www.archive.org/ They won't be on line for another 5 hours or so yet but once they are you can find them by just typing Retro Core in the serch box under Moving Imagaes (Movies) Yakumo PS: you're getting volume 10 super early
cool Yakumo san (is it ok i call you that ?) i am right now downloading number 9 so i will give you a review again when i have seen it
Where are you downloading volume 9 from? Is it from the BT seeds? I just noticed that after I upload the files to the archive I have to process them. That won't be happening tonight though because I'm off to bed so it looks like they won't be on line until 7 pm tomorrow. (GMT +8) Yakumo
yes it is from the BT seeds and i just saw number nine and i must say this wow you rock ! and your voice sounds more soft (maybe the new recording method has something to do with) and just like last time i want to compare with the shite TV show on DK4 called GamezoneTV (your show is NOT shite ) well i watched GamezoneTV two days ago and he began babbling danglish (a mixture of English and Danish that is popular and it is very similar to engrish/japrish) and my mind stoped, because either you speak complete english or complete danish since my thoughts gets fuckedup if i have to think in two languages at the same time and then try to retranslate it back to danish. but anyway i must say your show rocks and it is great , your humour is very present , and if i am not wrong i could hear you laughing but anyway you are the same quality as the danish TV show on DR1 called troldspejlet (the trollmirror/the magic mirror) and i admire your English because when you are saying the Japanese titles it is just the titles and some other things and then you go completely over in English while playing , and i must say thumps up for that !!! the picture is from a sticker i got from a friend i have working at a firm where they can´t write english but they can write something
hahaha, nice English that is on the sticker. Looks just as bad as some of the Japlish / Engrish I see here. I'm happy that you're enjoying the show. Get ready to download volume 10 from http://www.archive.org/ It should be ready in about an hour. Just waiting for it to pass the final stage. By the way, I could do an entire review in japanese if you'd like but there's probably no point since only GaijinPunch and one or two others would understand it. There is a bit of easy or at least easy to me Japanese on volume 10 at the start of the new East2West section. It says "Ima kara Isuto To Wesuto No Jikan Desu" = "Now it's East to West time" It sounds like a robotic old man but is in fact me I love the stuff you can do with Goldwave. Yakumo
Yakumo: when you made that interview with the shopkeeper i think you already talked with him in japanese and and said to him that you would ask questions in english , but he knew them already since you told him what questions you would say in english, in japanese and i think it was a great interview in one of your earlier episodes
Ah yes, so I did By the way, Volumes 1,2,3,4,5,8,9 and 10 are now available from http://www.archive.org/ Yakumo
Cheers mate, downloading it now, but itll probably die since we have thunder here at the mo, and itll probably kill my phone line or power before long...
Downloaded it and watched it. Superb, as always. It seems your audio has improved a lot (and I agree with Wolvie, your voice does sound younger), and your captures are also crisper / more colourful. Very cool.
Thanks :drinkers: Maybe my voice sounds different due to the Mike I'm using. It's just a really cheap arse (originally expensive) PC mike by Fujitsu. Surprisingly though it's got a fantasitc range, so much in fact that youcan here trains passing out side even though the window in closed and me pressing the buttons on the pad as I play the games (I play and do the voice overs all at the same time). Best thing about the mike is that it's flat almost meaning I can place it on any surface. The better picture quality is due to me changing my custom AV leads. I've done away with the dodgy masking tape and gone for a real wire to wire conection. Looks smart now. I still don't know why they don't sell video spliters for AV./ Yeah, sure they sell switch boxes that allow you to have two different out puts from the same source but they only out put one at a time, not bothy together :angry Yakumo
