i hate to say it yakumo, but if tis run over it either has to be by a crappy beat up car or a huge truck, either would be funnyer. Or have somedbody thats into martial arts and smash it with there head like they do with wood.
now that's a cool idea but sadly I don't know anyone. how about if I just put it in the middle of the main road that goes to Hiroshima ? That has shit loads of trucks !! Surely one of them will run it over Keep the ideas coming :smt023 Yakumo
1) Throwing it from a large height will do nothing to it. I can tell you for sure, man. These things are built to withstand punishment - at least the older ones. If you do throw it, make sure it falls on its side. It'll be one messy "falling apart". I don't know if fireworks are legal in Japan. There sure are a lot of neat openings just begging for good-old mexican style fireworks. Not really the sparkly ones, but those that look like barrels full of powder. Maybe if there's a "chinatown" sector in Shimonoseki, you'll be able to find goood stuff. You place many of these explosive little barrels under the lid, one or two in the places where the laser is supposed to move, and if there are smaller ones, you can line the unit with six of them on the outside edges. You're gonna have a hell of a lot to light if you don't use just one fuse, so you'll need extra fuse-thread to coordinate the fuses. ( OT Side Story: You know, In this earline that doesn't even exist anymore, I had fireworks in my luggage and they said NOTHING about it. I was flying from Cuernavaca to Guadalajara. ) 2) Maybe drop something, like a bowling ball, on it. Then set the remains on fire and give the fallen warrior a Jedi funeral. Also: Fire good! 3) if you do run it over with a car, make sure it's placed vertically close to a tyre beforehand. Otherwise, you'll simply get a very flat PSX. I wouldn't recommend this method of execution, though, because it could screw up your tyres. 4) It'll be hard to record close to the road to Hiroshima. Plus you should see it in the Japanese laws beforehand - in some countries, it is illegal to "interrupt" roads and communications, and you could get in trouble for messing with public infrastructure. 5) The wall idea is pretty cool. You could also somehow use a hammer. Or a Baseball bat. Maybe play Softball with it. 6) Construction of a slingshot-like device, with two posts that are firmly on the ground, and one large flexible/elastic component that could send the PSX crashing really hard into something. It'd be funny, and cartoon-like to do this. 7) Smash it between two big rocks. 8) If you have an extra microwave oven (maybe someone is thinking of a way to give his oven a funeral like that of your PSX?), that would be one hell of an experiment. Dangerous as hell, though, so I'd be weary of it. But it'd be fun to watch.
I think I'll go with the fire works option I'll have to do it at the dead of night in the middle of no where I'm sure there will be enough light from the fireworks to make filming possible. But what I will do first is cover the PSX in petrol then put in the fireworks. make a line of gun powder from a firework to the set up and light it It will be just like a cartoon watching the fire shoot down the gunpowder trail in to the petrol soaked firework infested PSX. I just as hell hope that if I light the gunpowder the flame will actually travel down it. Does anyone know if this is true? I'm thinking of doing it on the small beach near here. That will be deserted at night plus has a great place where I could set it up. The Microwave sounds cool too but I'd never try that indoors. Yakumo
Yakumo you shall make a long fuse ! and remember to where protection glasses just like new years eve in Denmark , since fireworks are dangerous.
I would not use lots of Petrol, Yakumo. Get a drop of that on you, and it could turn out to be VERY unpleasant. The Gunpowder will make quite an explosion. It will also be very loud (even outdoors) so please use protection on your ears and the camera's microphone. I can tell you, I was deaf for like half an hour with just one blast, so make sure the camera is setup beforehand from a proper distance and angle. Make sure, also, that you have some padding in case some pieces of the PSX come flying your way. The beach option is good, but the gunpowder line could be affected by the sand. Consider using a long fuse, tied to the fuses of several smaller explosives. If you do use petrol, use it VERY carefully and in small quantities in strategic locations of the victim. Take just the amount you're going to use, and keep it away from the place the experiment will be executed in once it's been set. Light the fuse once you have the petrol container VERY far away from the place of execution. Have a bucket of seawater ready in case of any contingency. Have someone help you light this or record - because it's bound to be a very brief experiment. Have a VERY long fuse ready, and bring spares in case it goes out before it reaches the explosives. If it's a dud, do not go near it until after a while, because sometimes it will take a while to spark up and you won't realise this. Man, I wish I could send you some good old illegal mexican fireworks from Cuernavaca... those little fuckers packed quite a punch if I recall correctly. They'd do the job for sure. Maybe there's a chinese equivalent to those. Look for the ones that look like little barrels of powder with a fuse on one end or on the middle. Get the 1 or two inch versions, many of them. There's these other ones that look like a folded piece of paper. One of those under the PSX would also be awesome, for total destruction. Good luck. And For Great Justice!
Thanks for the safety advice XerdoPwerko. I won't be actually doing this on the sand but a concrete area just infront of the beach. This area is secluded which is a very good thing. As for keeping myself and the camera far away, I'm way ahead of you on that Luckily my camera has a x200 zoom !!! I won't be that far away though So all I have to do is find where to buy some good fire works and fuse wire. We don't have a China Town here or anywhere near but we do have a large Korean town maybe they have some goodies? Yakumo
Good news ! I've sorted out the problem I was having with DVD versions or Retro Core From Volume 11 There will be two versions available. The same as now Xvid MPEG 4 version and a high resolution DVD version with 48kbps Stereo Audio and real DVD resolution (apart from the opening because I can't be arsed making that again so I'll just stretch it ) The DVD version will be available for sale only at the cost price of the DVD postage and paypal's little cut ! Yakumo
Bandwidth isn't a problem for me since it's unlimited but the file size will be too big for most people out side of Asia to download since you have slooooowwwww internet speeds plus there's a 30kbps download limit on my FTP. So I don't know if it's worth bothering or not. We're going to be looking at files sizes around 2 Gig I'd say. Thank God that MPEG 2 is smaller than direct RGB ! That sucks up 3.5Gig just for 5 minutes !!
Well I'd download it - I'm used to using 64k isdn to download things, so i'm patient now im on a connection ~18x faster. Might be nice offering it for download - I'd take it
I just made a test Retro Core 12 DVD featuring 2 games plus opening and ending. I must say that the picture quality is amazing !! a million times cleaner than the XVID MPEG4 files available for Download. The show is getting better The only downer is that I have to deinterlace the videos of games before I add them to the DVD otherwise people watching it on TVs will get a very nasty bluring. The downside is that the images look a little squashed but only a little. No where near as bad as the old PAL game consoles Actually the image looks perfect on a PC. Yakumo Yakumo
Here's a few pictures from the introduction to the "Death of the PSX" section that was filmed today. THese shots are ripped from the DVD version then saved as 60% quality jpegs. Now all I have to dois blow it up Yakumo
i dont think that is a problem, in europe they have super duper high bandwidth now, and here in the us most have 3/4mbit i down @ 600kbps and at 1000when the server is good :smt1062
I wouldn't call that super duper bandwidth Now I call 100mbps super duper high speed though Shame I don't have that in my area so I'll just have to make do with 12mbps Anyway, a fast connection isn't going to help anyone getting stuff from my FTP because I've capped it to 30kbps MAX for each user. Why you may ask. Well because I have to se this PC for my own enjoyment so with 20 odd users at once sucking up 30kbps each adds up to quite a bit. Yakumo
