I ran into the same problems encoding some games of my own. I purchased a good quality s-video distribution amplifier to split the signal between my encoder and a tv monitor which yields excellent video quality. Great work!
I've just seen and besides some audio problems, it was one of the best episodes released. Keep it up!!! Now, will it ever be a bomberman series or a mahou dasaikusen review?
Those audio out of sync problems are a right pain and can't be fixed withought loosing audio quality. Next time though I won't use MP3 audio until I have everything linked together. That should stop the sync problems. Yakumo
Really? You know that it only goes out of sync when I put all the sections together. The seprate parts of the show are all perfect. I'll take a look at this sound forge though. I may be useful. Yakumo
Yakumo-san i must say i have just watched Retro Core 6 , 7 and Sega Saturn Shooting special so i have to say this i am very impressed by the quality of your work and your voice is great and calming to listen to and it sounds you take it seriously and in the same time it feels like you are sitting and sipping tea while playing because it is not like the "professional" shows like one of them we have in Denmark (i am not trashing "Troldspejlet") but a show called gamezone on DK 4 and that is just eeeky compared to your shows. because you are honest of what you are saying and feeling while you play and if your dialect is the Liverpool dialect i must say it is an dialect like any other dialect because i only had a little trouble hearing when you pronounced Konami and in my ears it sounded like you were saying Kanomi (not an offence at all sir) and i think you are thinking in Japanese (just a thought sir ) and Yakumo your show is really professional compared to the show i mentioned on DK4 and i must say this Thumps up mate it is really a smashing great show and i am looking forward to more shows (and the shows i got when they are decompressed) and just for the record Yakumo-san your work is the most professional i have seen and i laughed a couple of times because your humour is warm and funny
Retro Core Vol: 8 is now available !! I think for the first time ever Retro Core has no out of sync problems at all thanks to a new method of recording the audio!! Featured in Vol:8 are the following great games - Transformers for the Famicom (Shite of the month), Kage also for the Famicom, Xmultiply on the arcade, Konohana True Report (Anime Corner), Rockman X4 for the Saturn, Sonic CD for the Mega CD, The House of the Dead for Mobile phones (Japan only), Trizeal and Napple Tale for Dreamcast and Batman for the Mega Drive. That's 10 games featured !! Yakumo
well im a bit late on posting review, anyway this version is a bit improved over the previous, the flow is alot smoother, and the audio does not seems to be off, though im wondering by hearing background noise if you now record the audio while you play the game? Still a pretty good show, loved the batman segment. Id imagine though its pretty difficult to find what games to cover though, are you by any chance going to at all do a segment of U.S. versus japanes version of a game? im just curious if it still might happen since id belive it be pretty intresting. Well good show and keep up the work.
is it just me or the screen brightness fluctuate little bit at couple of places? I burnt it into DVD+R to play on DVD player and unlike previous vol 8 showing kind of pulsating brightness at couple of places...?
I'd love to do that but you know I'll be on the Japanese versions side every time since the US versions to me are always f*cked up in one was or another. It does get hard to choose what to add to t he show though since I have that many games. Got a great heap of shite for Shite of the Month in Volume 9 Yes, the colour or brightness does fluctuate. This is because I made my very own custom cables to do all the direct recoding from actual hardware. I also record the audio along with the image so you could say it's "LIVE". Many times you can hear the buttons on the controller or even the sound of cars out side This is how I record the show (Very complicated really because I made everything) The video & Audio comes from the console in to a AV switch box. From here it gets crazy. From the switch box the video splits two ways. One goes to the TV and the other to the PC. The reason for this is because the capture card shows the image 1 second after it actually happend so playing games while viewing the image on the PC is not possible. So I view the game on the TV. Due to my cheap arse making of the lead it sometimes goes a bit odd as you see on the Rockman X4 opening or when the brightness alters. The audio goes from the swtich box in to the back of the stereo. From the front of the stereo is a lead that's connected to the headphone jack. This lead is one of those with both ends looking like the end of a pair of earphones. The end of this lead that's not plugged in to the stereo goes in to a two way earphone splitter along with the mic in the other jack. Then this splitter leads to my capture card. So The games audio plus the mic audio now have a direct feed to the capture card along with the video. This alows me to do direct recording of video with stereo audio and voice over all live. No need to piss about timing everything then. I think I'll remake the video cable for Volume 9 however since it's starting to mess up quite a lot. Yakumo
Retro Core Volume 9 is now out FTP downloads are now on line and so should be the BT downloads. Unfortunatly there are no URL downloads thanks to me losing my password and the archive not returning my mails about it Yakumo
That's because I've been living on my own for the last month I actually finished it on May 27th Starting Volume 10 on Sunday. Yakumo
Try again mate. I just checked it and it seems to be fine. I knwo that the site was down a bit yesterday so maybe that was the problem. Yakumo
