Yeah, as Johnny said, Sega probably fixed a lot of the issues the game had by the time it was released in the west. The Japanese version really is poor though. If the EU version has tighter controls then the game could be ok I think but as the Japanese version goes it's really bad. I do like the music though.

Don't remember if those glitches were in the Western version, but the controls were definitely really bad. Wish they had made another collection with some of the later releases, since the early ones were passable at best.

Yakumo: You are still making a great show, no doubt about that :) And if any one felt I went and started bitching. Then I did not :) But I would have loved, if Panzer Dragoon , Virtua Fighter 2 and some of the others had been released in a volume 2 in Europe. Then it would have been even greater :)

please feel free to bitch. Everyone has and is entitled to their own opinion. Millions of people love Mario games but I don't. Not at all.

;-) I prefer Giana Sisters over Super Mario Brothers 1 on the Famicom/NES :)

OK, then you have no credibility at all. :)

If you like Sonic, and not Mario, that's weird. The controls and playability in Sonic is terrible IMO.

    Love you shows though.

Hey, everyone has their opinion. Although I've been gaming since the early 80's I never actually played any of the older Mario games until the SFC Mario collection was released. By that time I had played a million platformers and just thought the original Mario games controlled like crap, especially the jumping. each to their own :)

Although I'm no big Mario fan, the SFC collection had physics that were significantly different from the originals, and IMO they were much worse.

Well that could explain why I thought the original Mario games were not much fun.
Saying that I had a Finished Paper Mario on the Wii and that game bored the shit out of me. I also play a lot of New Super Mario World on the Wii with my son and I don't like that either. I always get him to play Kirby instead :) now that I do like, a lot.
I must point out that I do enjoy Mario 64 though.

I actually really enjoy both Sonic and Mario games. It seems like most people prefer one or the other, but I like both of them. I see no reason why one precludes the other. They are different, but they're each cool in their own way.

I'm not big on Mario either, don't mind the first few but I really don't get what's great about the SNES one. I like the game boy games better then the NES ones & that Giana Sisters ds game better then those. Hebereke/Ufouria is my favourite NES title though so there's no accounting for taste.

I've played most of those Sega Ages titles, the 3D stuff is the essence of wasted opportunity but the second half of releases were mostly really nice. That was a cool episode anyway I had forgotten what a lot of those were like.

That new driving video with the sea bridge was really nice as well. Thanks for putting more of these up.

Glad you enjoyed the videos. When filming the car one over the bridge, my wife was asking why do people watch these videos. I guess she things seeing a cra drive down a road in Japan is odd but I know that when I lived in the UK I loved seeing this sort of stuff because it was so different to the west.

Yeah, I like those driving videos as well. Japan is fascinating in general.

Finding secrets, exploration and completion. The controls are great. :)

I guess driving the same roads from day to day it's just nice seeing something completely different. Some of those motorways and tunnels are pretty insane too. Actually what's really insane are the amount of 40k roads, it's mostly 50-60k in Australia & we only do 40 for school zones and roadworks (which half the time don't even have anyone working on the road). I feel that's a bit slow there are a ton of roads that could be 70 or more if people were able to be trusted behind the wheel. I did an airport run at 6am this morning and no one was on the road so I did about 70-80 the whole way home :)

I really should give it another go the cart is in the cupboard. When I played it just didn't feel action-intensive enough/there was too much empty space & I'd die from getting complacent/a wandering mind. These days I'm more into the modern masochistic style platformers.

I think the whole reason for the low speed limits is mainly because of the amount of dumb drivers on the road. Only yesterday I was driving to the city behind some woman n a stupid box car when for no reason at all she hit the breaks. There was nothing in front of her either. This caused me to slam on my breaks causing the car to slightly skid on the wet road. Thank God I can control a skid otherwise I would have went straight in to the back of her and blamed for the accident even though it was that stupid cows fault for sharp breaking in the middle of the road for no reason.

Sounds like an AI driver from Forza has somehow manifested in the real world.

In the UK the AI is ill equipped for making any sensible use of indicators, if any. It was optional... I guess.

I must point out, that I am of course talking about the first Giana Sisters game that came out on C64, where Chris Hülsbeck made the music. I think the same game on Amiga is great, but I am not fond of the same music on the Amiga version. I feel it has been filtered and too soft. In comparison to the more raw sound on the C64.
