Yeah, Logistically it doesn't make sense. I have time to crap out an hour and a Half Episode every 2 weeks. Plus The shows are very different, You Review, I just play the first few levels and say whatever crap goes though my head.

God I have no idea how to describe my show anymore....

I had gotten behind on Retro Core 3, but now I've seen volume ten and I'm about to see nine.

Man, do I agree with you with the recent influx of faux 8-bit games. Some of them are awesome (Scott Pilgrim, which looks more 16 bit, VVVVVV, which looks like it could have been made on C64), but most of them are generic crap. But yeah, both of the games I mention have such awesome chiptune soundtracks... maybe that's what makes them awesome.

Man, I miss the golden age of gaming SO much... the music specifically. This is probably what made games so memorable to me back then.

More classic arcade comparisons in Retro Core 3 Volume 11 with Arcade Hellfire and Mega Drive Hellfire. Which version is best? The arcade original or the Mega Drive port? Also there is Haunted Castle arcade game, a look at all the Ranma 1/2 fighting games for the Super Famicom, Jakie Chan's God awful arcade fighting game and Maou Renjishi better known as Mystical Fighter on the Mega Drive.

If I have any complaints it's that these episodes are too short. Then again I'm used to long ass shows since I do one.

Nah, 25 to 35 minutes is just right. Afterall, most TV shows are only about 25 minutes long.

This is true. I'm not saying make it longer. I'm just saying I could watch these for awhile. Plus when I get really into whatever you're reviewing it's over.

I used to think that longer was better but going over the older shows I even found myself becoming bored. I tend to try and keep a game segment to under 5 minutes. This way it doesn't drag on too much.

Some games I'd like to show more footage of but is that going to be interesting to all viewers? It's a tough call. Something I like may be dull to others and vice versa. So I just keep it simple with about 5 minutes or under of footage per game. You should give it a try. It will make your show more "on the ball" and "in your face" IMO due to the style and format. I think it would be a good thing.

For me the hardest thing is keeping it under and hour and a half. Where Retrocore is a serious review show Retrocade is me playing a game and saying anything that pops into my head. It didn't start that way I started out trying to rip you off (and not hiding it either) I like what it morphed into But want to make it manageable.

Anyways, I think the Retrocore II format was the best compromise for what you do, Retrocore II wasn't too long but it wasn't short it was just the right length and squeezed everything in it needed to. That's for what you do.

For what I do.......I'm still trying to figure that out. I'm pretty much set on "Guy plays the first few levels of a game and says what's on his mind"? Old game ads, More me being a smart ass/ Credits as the format now, it's just get that to an hour that's a challenge. At first I was all over the place but at least I have a format now.

Oh and you say you find yourself bored with Old retrocores......when I do a new Retrocade I sometimes fall alseep editing the show, then again I edit the show in bed.

My biggest issue is time. I started a new full time job last week (no more contact shit for me) so free time is limited. I think I'll be able to pump out two shows a month. The last one that was uploaded was actually made in early march.

I think ~30 minutes is a good length. It's something you can watch before going to bed without having to set aside a lot of time, and it's longer than the ones you were making - the 10 or 15 minute long ones. I think those were too short, because I always found myself wanting more. I think 30 minutes is a good compromise.

I haven't watched the new episode yet because I haven't had time, but I'm looking forward to it - especially since I have a reason to buy more Super Famicom games now.

Speaking of SFC, has anyone ever noticed how SNES/SFC games seem to have a "soft" look to them that's mostly absent in Genesis/MD games? I guess it's due to the larger color palette.

I think it is more due to the resolution that the SFC ran in. If you use an emulator or a capture card you'll notice that the image is more square than other consoles. Could this be a factor? Maybe but then again it could be due to havingmore colours like you said. One thing that is true, the SFC has some very nice pastel shades that the Mega Drive doesn't seem to have.

I think it has to do with the color pallet, because I get the same feeling from some Saturn games, like Street Fighter Zero 2 for example. Not so much with the Neo Geo, though - everything looks very sharp on the Neo Geo.

Which Saturn Games? Groove on Fight has a soft look to it while X-Men VS Street Fighter looks amazing! I'm ALMOST leaning towards saying X-men VS Street Fighter is BETTER than Arcade perfect

I've been going through these and I really like them! You have professionalism and you're actually educated on what you're playing as opposed to the "gimmick" video reviews that go into a game blind and generally are there to mostly make fun of the game. Really like the platform comparisons too!

Thank you very much. The shows are completely unscripted so sometimes I remember something that I wish I had said during the show but never did.

The shows will be a little less frequent from now on though as I've started a new job that takes up a lot of my time. I'm aiming at doing 2 shows per month. I'll also be doing a special on how Retro Core is made soon. Many people mail me about it so I thought a special explaining how the show is put together would be enjoyed by the fans.

Sweet, more retrocore, I'll pull down one a day, try not to be a piggy and watch them all at once.

Other dude I used to watch with different but really awesome taste in games, but this time western ones was antisocialfatman, did these incredibly in depth reviews of games that really got to the heart of what made a game good or what made a game bad. Up and died: http://www.youtube.com/user/antisocialfatman . 27 years old, no particular reason, ticker just gave out.

He was more sort of System Shocky, Point and Clicky PCy, Single Player Shooty than japanese retro.

Yet more proof life is too short to play bad games.

Only 27 :(. Man, that's too young but yeah, being way over weight is not going to do your body much good. Then again, even very fit people suffer heart attacks. Only 2 weeks or so back a football (soccer) player dropped dead infront of thousands from a heart attack in the middle of a game.

Wasn't actually that fat, was a veggie so not knocking back the pork pies, and was going out for walks and at the rowing machine, just a dicky ticker. Do miss the guy, always finding good obscure stuff on Steam.

Watch two other ones, GamingMil: http://www.youtube.com/user/GamingMill
GamingMil is like the anti-Yakumo :)

    And Reverend Burn: http://www.youtube.com/user/ReverendBurn
Talks about MW3 mostly. No chance of him dying, Twinkies have so many preservatives.

Anyway, enough about horrible early death. :)
