Sad day. Maybe not the end, who knows. I've read that is related to Electronic Farts. I think i saw that UG was safe in some information about BG, i guess no.
Just when I started giving back to the community, it up and leaves! :sorrow: I hope they have some success in getting back online.
Hahaha, won't argue with you on that one. Golden torrents seemed to cover the prettiest overall presentation. Still, it was the easiest place to track down full sets! Rare stuff belongs here on the Assembler Games tracker...
I built up my weird-gaming-related-videos archive solely from UG. Sad to see them go. Edit: Top contender was http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rtiQqI192Co The vhs was ripped by a UG member and when it was first uploaded I could not find a single word about it online. Now it's posted on youtube and hopefully on a lot of peoples hard drives.
How related to EA huh? There was nothing current gen on there, so what's the big deal? I don't get it...
All your DVD backups died? That's not good at all! Dud discs? So what you are saying is, sharing is caring and it's party time all the time? Or am I reading it wrong a third time? :concern: Wait, do we have a tracker of sorts? :suspicion:
That's BS! It was a great place for the older stuff, and they hosted nothing from the current generation (just like here), so i gotta wonder what it actually was that got them shut down.
UG was a good place for preservation enthusiasts, but also a harbor for pirates. I mean sharing prototypes, hacks/mods like DUB editions and out of print of released games can be considered preserving, but for example the sharing of GOG.com releases is just a big NO NO and clearly piracy...
Yeah, that "10 year old rule" they had didn't really work once GOG started to actually sell those games again. I don't imagine EA bought that "rule" either. But I still think the preservation factor should be taken into account when bashing UG.
For a second I thought this was about a user here. Phew. After Polygon Jim passed away at Sonic Retro it would have sucked to have lost someone else.
