I've tried to gain some informations on #chat channel (which is recommendend on the main site UG), but nobody talks there...
Hahaha, last time I was in there every second word was "cocks". Maybe they've partied a little too hard. I'd say the admins and higher ups are trying to work out what to do. Interestingly the UG website no longer has a cool picture explaining what is going on. Give them time and they will hopefully bounce back, I've got a TOSEC Sega CD torrent I was going to update. I only noticed there were some big changes on the pack a few weeks ago. Oh if only I'd acted sooner! :suspicion:
Liberal application of +m whenever it heats up too badly. I'm afraid there aren't many alternatives at times.
Hahaha, silence the masses! :encouragement: You mean you weren't a part of the community? :suspicion:
Or you could just set "quiet" ( some use +q....others....NFI ) on the user and be done with it.... same thing as +m only its not channel wide....but per user
I actually didn't see the picture before it was taken down, was using text onlybrowser and didn't fetch the image, what was it again?Either way when I came to the chat immediately that day I was rather pissed because I've had something going on with a certain user who most probably had the old Unreal prototypes on his harddrive like the late 95 monster preview..it was just this time when he was about to return with the files etc and suddenly UG wasdown and I haven't been able to get back in touch with the guy yet (i did not have his direct contact though he should have mine still), but I'm hoping for thebest. That's of course not the only sad thing, but it was for me something I waited for ages and ages to find someone who might have those old leaks like the version with the red dragon.I had some other friends at the site etc and well..while I wasn't really that active otherwise the site did prove very useful to me at times so I am sad to seeit gone(for now) and I like that they tried to preserve the original files of everything (even though most scene releases contained junk or even some viruses). But hardly anywhere else you could get the files intact.EDIT: Damn it came out as a huge chunk of text just because I accidentaly entered the text first time at a wrong field..
http://pastebin.com/XYwSRtq9 1. What happened? TL;DR: We have legal problems, courtesy of one of the "copyright protection" groups. That's what you get when you have organizations whose sole purpose is scoring points by taking down sites. They don't care about what they take down. They just do what they are paid for. 2. Is this the same thing as with BG? BG's shutdown was pre-emptive. Trust me if I say that this one wasn't planned at all. 3. Does this mean UG is gone? No, we are not gone. 4. Is this related to you closing invites recently? This is what closing invites was supposed to prevent from happening. 5. How/when will we get to know more? irc://underground-gamer.com/#chat , we will release new information as it becomes available. 6. Is the user data safe? We went scorched earth on the server - everything that COULD be wiped, was. Everything that could NOT be wiped was thoroughly encrypted. 7. Will UG be back? See #3. We can rebuild it. We have backups. We have the technology.
As of today, Underground Gamer's IRC network is down and is going to stay so until UG comes back (assuming it does).
: So I assume there's not even the remote chance for the tracker to be up again, even without the site being up.
But there IS a possibility of processing the existing .torrent files to create non-private-flagged versions describing the same data, so that you can continue to download / seed them via DHT and peer exchange. I've got something for this in the works, as a matter of fact, details TBA in next few days.
Hope it gets sorted and the site is back up (and existing users can still log on). Those motherfucking copyright bastards.
Hi derekb, Atreyu resides at xbox-hq (www.xbox-hq.com). He's posted lots of tutorials for dreamcast. In fact you will see some of his posts on the active topics. Just thought I'd post this for those looking for him.
I hope, Anonymous will atack this f* ESA and others too eagerly "copyright" (in fact "producersright") organisations.
Since torrents need a main tracker to work I believe people will move on from this to another way of sharing files.
