i don't understand why ffxii is so different from the others.
but i do agree that final fantasy 11 should be named finalfantasy online, but i guess it's too late now.

You know, the name final fantasy sells, but the numbered serie of ff sell even more.

I think that its because they have too many of the people that worked on Tactics working on 12. Of course, they also green-lighted FFX-2 (might as well have made it Final Fantasy: Extreme Beach Volleyball) and completely screwed up Star Ocean 3, so I think that the golden age of Square-Enix is long gone.

FF12 is going to have proximity based real-time combat (i.e. it will play like Knights of the Old Republic) with AI controlled companions. It will feel nothing like a *real* FF game. I'm not saying that it will be a bad game, I really enjoyed KOTOR 1 & 2, but it will not be a FF game.

As far as Star Ocean 3, they removed a lot of what made 1 & 2 fun. Most of the character abilities are removed or castrated. Item creation is next to impossible to use and they completely removed the Pickpocketing skill. :no

oh, so the combats will be closer to ff11 than, let's say ff9, but the difference is that it will be off-line then? mmm... that will be quite strange indeed.

Hehe, I'll agree. I'll even admit that I bought it new when it first came out. There just seems to be a stigma surrounding the game just because it was made in the US instead of in Japan.

You know, the Music in Mystic Quest is actually quite good. The battle theme, and the "generic" town theme that changes rhythm every town are just delicious.
