oooh i wish i had rvt-r disks to dump XD lol. um i have question i know that the iso from the disk will work in wode but will it work in any usb loader? on retail wii with rvt-r naad dump using sneek?
you can "load" RVT-R disc dumps like normal Wii disc dumps BUT they won't run because of the different set of keys used to encrypt/sign them.
I managed to force it to dump 2/3 of the disk through various means, but could never get any further. One thing I learned is that to get it to dump, you can swap your rvt in at any time after you drop in a real Wii disk. If you drop the wii disk in and wait for it to stop spinning, you can swap in the rvt and then run rawdump or friidump and it will still start dumping the thing. No need to swap it while it's spinning. I tried dumping this with friidump and its many options as well, and it, too, will eventually stop being able to read the and then stop dumping.
oooh kk thanks for the reply;-) um how did you get your disk loading on your retail wii? i tried to install the dev certs but failed lol
That's not what the "dev certs" are. You need a modified version of IOS that uses the dev common key and will accept the dev signature; or, re-encrypt the image and fakesign it.
A little up for this old topic, just to report my tests. The LG dumping method failed for me too. I tried around 8 different RVTR discs and all failed. Sometimes before 600 mb dumped, sometimes after... the amount of dumped datas is alsways different. I also tried to redump the same disc many times, and here too, the size is never the same... I never did more than half of the disc with this hotswap trick xD RawDump app was not designed for this type of discs so maybe it's normal? It's also possible that the guys who sucessfully dumped a RVT-R with this method got a unperfect dump... some unreadable bytes could be filled by random bad datas? Well.. so if another method is found, please tell me Like a RawDump/FriiDump modification, or a new compatible dvddrive..
I don't remember who told me that but that's because the discs gets out of sync after some time, since compared to retail Wii discs which have a normal readable header area, RVT-R discs have a modified sector ID in that area so that a normal drive can't read that disc AT ALL and that's why dumping them via rawdump doesn't work by default.
hmm, thats odd because I was able to dump several discs to the full ammount, they had some problems but in the end they worked all fine.
Currently ripping some disc's thanks to godlike's post/video. Thanks a lot Good to finally have these backed up and able to be explored. Edit: bah, dev common key isnt "known" yet?
let's stay on topic why am I giving it up? Because it is already public, some stupid release group released the key yesterday along with the wii menu changer disc 1.13 and some WADs extracted from it.
So does anyone have real purpose for the dumps? Most rvt-r I find are not worth sharing, it would be nice to find some real betas of good games lol. Anyone know if dumping rvt-r via wode is possible
Its mostly about collecting the dumps and they can be burned with a rvt-r writer/ or a modified DVD writer(like crediar did) and then one could use them. And AFAIK dumping via wode is possible, if you use the wode with a rvt-r reader, never tried this though.
