    Sure.

I did the following to successfully dump my RVT-R discs:

I used a LG GDR-8164B Drive, a screwdriver, the Program RawDump for Windows and a RVT-R which needs to be dumped.

The drive needs to be open(meaning the housing must be removed to swap out discs without opening the drives tray), insert a retail game DVD and start RawDump.

Wait until RawDump starts dumping the retail.

Quit RawDumps actual dumping process, wait for the retail game to stop spinning.

Swap the retail with a RVT-R disc, start RawDump again and the RVT-R will dump :)

    Dumping a RVT-R takes about 2,5- 3 hours.

    Hope that helps.

    It's been a while...

I'd like to iterate, too, that I tried several different RVTs this way and they all bombed out.

I also tried it on 2 or 3 seperate IDE->USB convertors, plus I pulled my old Pentium 4 out of mothballs and hooked it up via true ide on an XP machine.

I'm wondering, Godlike, which specific version of the LG GDR-8164B you're using? Mine looks like it's probably some cheap OEM version. I'm attaching a scan of my own for reference.

I also wonder if it depends on the firmware revision, too. Maybe this process is flakey with certain drives. Would you mind posting your DVD-ROM's data?

Ok, so I am using a HL-DT-ST DVD ROM GDR8164B drive, I did not update it to any special kind of firmware, I left it as it was when I bought it.

The drive is running with windows standard drivers, I am using win XP in a virtual machine on OSX.

I am using RawDump 2.1 for dumping RVT discs.

I am not to sure if that helped but thats all info I have I guess...

    Thanks Godlike.

Can you tell me what Firmware revision it is? For instance, on my sticker, it says F/W 0M08. I've seen F/W 0U08 online, but I can't get it to flash (and really, I don't even know if it's newer.) Really, if you can transpose the data from (or scan) your drive's cover sticker like I did, that would be helpful.

Also, is yours an LG branded drive or just an OEM one? I'm guessing OEM.

No idea about the firmware, the sticker is photocopied and gives no info whatsoever.

    Imgburn says:

    Firmware version: 0U08
    Vendor specific info: 0BUBA 05/07/16

    Hope this helps ;)

It's got a different 'boot' sector part of it or whatnot from what I understand.
