Yeah I would just wait for him to actually release a compiled binary, so 0.831 is still the newest release at the moment

You do need a little more than just Cmake to compile this though anyway, I don't have this setup either.

the PseudoSaturn.BIN is just the contents of the chip aka the loader, rather than an installer, the installer is ran from a CD image or PC comms software

    Hi all,

I've lost track of this hack a few weeks ago.
I remember someone saying that it MIGHT be possible to implement it into the region-free BIOS.
Has anything in that regards happen yet? Or is there someone working on it?

I have seen this in the changelog, which (to me?) sounds like something that way?
    Regards,
    iCEQB

Don't think so. Looks more like it's a change to make the AR-based loader mimic more closely how the BIOS would load a game from the CD.
    Relevant changeset: here

Is it possible that this could be adapted to run with the 3rd and 4th gen Saturn Gameshark Carts?

They are almost the same thing save for the expanded ram.

Also I heard that my Memory Card Plus has flashable storage so I just tried to flash mine along with my Game Shark and it said HW not supported.

I have the 1.92 bios Gameshark. I wonder if it would ever be compatible with Pseudo since it is made by the same company that did the AR 4-1 cart.

EDIT: When using the latest posted flasher the OP made, I insert both my Gameshark and Memory Card Plus and it says hardware not supported.

    Gameshark HW ID: 5345 4741

Memory Card Plus HW ID: BFBF 0808

It at least detects the carts, on every disc I used, and I have tried all 3.

There must be some way to be able to flash both of mine. I know others have said they are both flashable, just not sure what else to try here. I have even pulled up on the carts slightly a mm or 2 up, nothing really seems to work.

PS contains a bunch of support code - fonts, menus, etc. If you were to toss out all the user interface, the core loader would be <4kB. How many smaller carts are there, though?

Yeah, I tried both of those but to no avail. Not sure why it won't flash either of mine. They should have well over enough storage to flash them.

Yup it should do does it even flash with the GameShark updates? with either Cafealpha2's or the other disc?

P.S. this is an official GameShark cart

Cafealpha2 includes both Gameshark bios and Memory Card + bios, I only included the AR (Datel) AR+ and GS bios images, I did not have a memcard + bios to share

cafealpha failed with my AR4in1 as well, but these instructions worked perfectly using Atlus. Thanks for the writeup! :)

Nope, it will not even attempt to flash it. These are official carts. The Gameshark cart I have owned since 1998, and the Memory Cart I got the beginning of this year new in box. They seem to be 100% official.

Like I said, I tried all 3 of these disc's to no avail.

I can see my saves on my carts with the Atlas utility fine, so it acknowledges the carts fine.

These are the ID's I get.

    Gameshark HW ID: 5345 4741

Memory Card Plus HW ID: BFBF 0808

Did you follow how to use Atlus the way smoke monster just quoted, I presume you did I am just stabbing in the dark now...

The only other way if none of the flasher CD's work is maybe to flash via a cable and olde PC, though I don't know where the tools would be found myself for doing that.

I don't see any reason why the Atlas CD would not work though to be honest atleast I can give some sort of reason for the others

It might be worth looking to see what chips your carts have

Well, after much trial and error, I FINALLY got it to work! Thanks for all the help zorlon, its much obliged.

Wow, this feels amazing. After all these years and I can play my Saturn just like I can my Dreamcast simply by inserting a cd and booting it up.

I already have the full NTSC-U library of games burnt to verbatims, so all I really need to do is burn those Pal and Jap games!

Too bad I lost my codes, but I have faith they will be fully restored in a later build!

Also, I was using Atlas, and my problem was actually that I would press A 2x when I finaly got into the utility screen and wasn't actually going to the flash AR firmware option.

Looks like my day is going to be very busy!

If I flash this to my Action Replay, can I try it out and then flash back to the original Action Replay bios?

Edit: I tried flashing with the disc from here http://ppcenter.webou.net/devblog/a...idge-firmware-flash-utility-small-update.html

It erases and writes but says "Write Verification failure" immediately after writing. I tried flashing the AR 2.02 back and it does the same thing :(

I've got an EMS Action Replay Plus 4M

I have the exact same thing, how did you get it to work?

    So far I've tried:

Saturn cartridge firmware flash utility, which gives me "Write verification failure" after writing
The installer from the first post, which also says "Verifiting flash...FAILED" after writing

Edit: Ok, I tried the Atlas disc and it allowed me to flash the AR bios back and it also allowed me to flash the Pseudohack lol, probably should have just used the Atlas disc first :)

I flashed another AR4M (new from Play-Asia) using Atlas and it worked perfectly. Make sure to press the exact buttons in the menu in the exact sequence or you can get error messages.

Atlas Save Game Manager flasher should be able to do that, I say should because I never felt the need to test due to saves I don't want to loose on my card and I have no way of backing those up currently

What save game manager are you talking about by the way??

The Atlas Save Game Manager (not the flasher part), The Saturn's own Save Game Manager itself. Both use Raw format, no compression is used or anything like that just a standard copy option
