Ok guys Have gone nuts and made an Excel spreadsheet of what manual, start price, expected price (I simply doubled the start price) and time ending. There is an average time ending gap of 2-5minutes. I will have to ammend the 16bit fund raiser as this (by simply doubling) could go for around $800. I am putting my money where my mouth is and paying for the SMS2 and the 2 GG manuals (not the TV one). I am also, tonight (about to leave for work) going to put up on ebay 3 modified consoles to further contribute to this. Consoles going up on ebay- Sega Master System 2-power on light, 50/60Hz switch, SAFE language switch, FM expansion board, 2 port pause mod, AV and s-video out. Sega Nomad-Modern LCD screen, region switch (manual), Reset (press start+mode), long life battery Atari 7800-AV modded These will be on a short auction to boost funds but people get the word out wherever forums you go. We need this stuff easily available!
It has been bought to light that these are simply photocopies of the originals....may help keep purists who go nuts away...
Just want to point you that many guys from different forums (Sega 16, spriteminds, SMS power...) are in touch about these actions, you should consider of arranging who buy what or you will be all in competition and make the seller rich !
Thanks for that matey, it should be sweet. That is me that has raised the fund raising on Sega 16 and SMSpower. A chap from Spritesmind has shown up to lend a hand on 2 of the service manuals (MD1 and IC parts list). I have a modified SMS2 going up on ebay tonight as well as an AV modded Atarti 7800 + modifed Sega Nomad (if I get time to do the auctions). These are short auctions (5 days or less) that will raise further funds towards these.
I have put up 2 of the 3 consoles to donate towards this. Please no complaints etc I am doing this for the team lol! Sega Master System 2 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281049859785?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Atari 7800 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281050184640?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 I listed the Atari first. It was removed due to the "piracy" thing, they claimed that it been "mod chipped, game enhancers or boot discs". I pointed out it had only had the video and sound improved. I then sent them links to other consoles that had been modded in a similar way. Hopefully they pull their heads in as I re-listed it. Sega Nomad added http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281050226140?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 As a seperate post The 8bit chipin has been cancellled.
All my ebay listings are safe, after my initial rant email to them, I enhanced my calm and wrote a carefully laid out email describing each modification. They were more than happy and re-instated the Atari 7800 (allthough I had re-listed it myself). Why they removed the Atari confuses me as it has the least done to it (AV only). I jumped the gun on the 8bit stuff.
Mate, I worry that you have overshot the price expectations with the Atari and SMS2. The nomad is a rare beast and even more so with a better screen and I see it already has bids but I wouldnt be suprised if the others tick over without getting bid on. IMHO ebay auctions should be "Buy it Now" or $1 start with reserve optional. I also want to add that this is not an attack on your work or anything as it looks tip top and I wish I had that know how.
Yes unfortunately being in Australia, I have to price as if I was selling it here. As it sits now at those prices I am only recovering what they have cost me, ie I won't be making a red-cent out of them. When it comes to this sort of thing living in Australia blows.... The Atari to be honest as long as I get my money back, that is fine. With the SMS2, you have to remember the FM board is $80 by itself and takes a bit to install. Have a browse elsewhere on ebay Australia and there is a chap selling a "not as modified" SMS2 for $149 BIN with no games. The Nomad at that price I am taking a bit of a hit on. Fun fact, some consoles are cheaper to import from the likes of the UK rather than try and source here..... Dreamcast especially. As far as I am aware ebay Australia only allows reserves on cars...
Yeah, I am in Australia!! Brisbane even! A bloke in Coolum offered me a SMS2 with some junk games and all cables for $60 in december, and I didnt buy it... SMS just isnt as valuable on ebay (as it lives in the shadow of the NES (for the record I picked SMS over NES back in the day) By rights it is more rare and more collectible but just not worth as much as value is set by the buyer and not the seller. But I hear you on the rediculous prices for consoles. especially when you see things like Boxed Super Famicoms sell for $15 on Yahoo Japan. Makes me mad that we dont run an inferior power standard too!
Wanna fall of your chair? The SMS2 was actually built for a staff member of the Game Traders store I recently stopped working for (repairs/mods as a hobby not a direct employee). It sat at my house for 6 months before this idiot decided he didn't want it (his attitude towards me stunk as adding the extra stuff into this above what I typically do for a SMS2 was 3hrs+...). Anyway so I took it into the store to sell through there. I set my price I wanted (I sold my consoles through there and they added games etc and sold it for a bit extra for their pocket). This idiot (staff member) put $390 on it, I shit you not! As you see it on ebay (2 of the games were different, the games I did have went "missing") is how they had it. I of course took it back as I knew they were taking the piss. Another anyway, it is going to a good cause (I hope)
Not suprised to hear "game traders" and outrageous prices in the same sentence.. Run in now and get a copy of FFVII for only $120 OOAAARR a copy of Super Mario All Stars for SNES for the LOW LOW price of $60 and dont forget that copy of Crazy Taxi for Dreamcast with the broken case and scratched disk for only $50 Bargains Bargains Bargains... You should advertise a modding service (if you care to) as I looked for someone who mods professionally in Brisbane and ended up sending my SNES to melbourne for a super CIC mod. Also - sorry for the off topic.. forget this and focus on preserving the knowledge contained within these tomes! Just an idea - someone should maybe contact this seller and ask him for a scan of the document to "confirm the authenticity" and you could get your result without buying the physical item?
dont get me wrong)) it's quite interesting papers))) maybe someone who well-known here (like Assembler) will buy this matterial, and then we support then with donations?
Whaaaaa??? Did you read the thread? The purchasing of these have been organised (me) the only manuals I am not going for are 2 of the Mega Drive manuals and the 8bits stuff. Fear not they WILL be shared (I will be going to work at 5am in the morning to scan them).
anyway, good infomation from such papers can be good source for my next developing of some sort hw emu.
