Use vinyl dye if you want white. There's no need to sand or anything. Just got to make sure you cover the system evenly. The Power Girl XBOX I made on the previous page was my first attempt, and I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed
I picked up some duplicilor vinyl ad fabric paint from costless the other day, I assume that is what you're talking about right?
Damn now I'm gonna need to find that receipt. Moron down there assured me that was vinyl dye, shouldn't have believed him.
I've never heard of vinyl dye being marketed as fabric paint. It's usually under it's own name, along with fabric paint. VHT Vinyl Dye should be your best bet. Since you're in the states it should be everywhere.
Most vinyl dye I've seen is also marketed as "fabric paint." Personally, I've used about a dozen cans between Duplicolor and Rustoleum, and they work great for plastics. These are the ones I regularly use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT4ATI/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00099C9NI/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That second link for Duplicolor is what the guy sold me saying it was Vinyl dye, So he was correct then?
I have read that you can use an Xtender case mod without a hard drive above the heat sink to considerably lower the temperature of a trusty board. I'm not sure where I saw this, but if I find the post, I will update!
Yea. The finish of the dyed plastic is absolutely great with that stuff. It's durable and doesn't take a whole lot of work to get a good looking result compared to normal spray paint. Vinyl dye is pretty forgiving to work with, as well. That said, I'd try it on a scrap piece of plastic first, just to see if it achieves what you desire.
My Xbox has a blue case right now (spray paint). Sadly, the motherboard is shot (v1.0 btw) so pics won't come until I get my replacement board with HDD. (replacement is a v1.3/1.4/1.5 board, all I know is it has a 2003 MFG date) In the meantime, anybody that knows Xbox inside-out,can you tell me if I need the Xbox EEPROM when I use the hotswap method to softmod?
Got the Adapter in the mail the other day, Took a while to figure out how to connect into it and then once I did get in it took even longer to figure out how to make it be in English rather than Chinese but once I got that figured out it seems to be working great!! cant wait to get it installed in my xbox, ive got some interesting mods planned. I'll be sure to update on here how they all go ^_^
EEPROM is not required to do the softmod, but is required if you want to upgrade your hard disk later. As you'll need to lock it to your EEPROM. As soon as you softmod you should FTP your EEPROM and store it on your PC. If you ever fuck up the hard disk to the point where it can't boot DVDs, then you'll need to start from scratch, which is where the EEPROM comes into play.
Did some Testing for a mod I plan on trying here soon, Ill update when I get all the parts but it involves a 3.5mm stereo audio jack to be installed on the xbox. Just tried installing one with great success Works wonderfully View attachment 11452 View attachment 11453
Just got my Trusty board back from repair and its working great! Now I'm working on getting a new heatsink mounted to the board that I'm sure will keep this thing nice and frosty View attachment 11541
Here is the latest Xbox I have finished for a customer. I uploaded a video of it to youtube too here Here are some pictures that show more what it looks like without the distorted blue led light.
