This was really simple to do I mean really simple - the LEDs and top Jewel you all know how to do, for the case just used normal gloss white spray paint from my local DIY store (or any other colour as you still get the frosted look regardless) I only painted the top shell, front panel and drawer cover, the bottom section you can only see about 15mm so I left that clear to give a slight "floating" look. Because the crystal case isn't totally clear and not a smooth surface outside you don't need to get the paint perfect as that rough dull surface removes any imperfections on the inside. one trick I did use was to heat the case in the oven to get it hot before I put the first light coat on, once that dried I warmed it up again and then painted it. Also I didn't paint the "cup" section inside the controller (it looked tricky) and didn't change the overall effect.
So I was given a Xbox crystal with a xecuter 3 chip and pro switch panel for free the other day by a friend who picked it up in a bundle, eventually after a lot of messing around I got it working, so I decided to move the switch panel inside as it was just plain ugly stuck on the outside, there isn't much room but it fits, I then re sprayed it again from the inside like my last one but I masked of the vented side sections, came out quite well I think View attachment 13182
Anyone know where i can buy one of those lcd screens from or is there anyone that still stocks or wants to sell me one?

I used 99% rubbing alcohol. It melted that glue like piss on a snowman. With a toothbrush it did short work of the lettering paint, too. Because this is a mods thread I'll add that acrylic paint is a great choice for redoing the letters. Squeeze some in and let it dry. (underside)
Cooking oil will get it off and isn't a chemical. Unless you eat from a microwave 100%, you're bound to have some.
Its actually extremely simple. Heres a couple pictures of the Adapter I used and how I have it connected. I used a 4 wire loom from a Old power management fan from a old computer, 2 wires are to the left and right audio and the other are connected to ground and 5v from controller port 2. Had to add a resistor in to lower the 5v power down a bit so It didnt harm the adapter though. Simple yet effective. Less than $20 bucks to do the mod too!

How did you make that slim? Its a beautiful idea, its a shame it couldn't be finished. Love how smooth it is
i actually have a build log for it on another forum not sure if im allowed to post links to other forums. it involved lots a cutting, bondo, sanding, 2 part epoxy. if you follow my pictures to my flikr thats where my build log pictures are. it does look awesome makes me sad to look at it. but since the controller ports are epoxied and bondo'ed its a big task to replace them with fresh ports
