Whats your thoughts on it? I wasn't going to get it then decided last week to go ahead and pre-order it, and later today fedex will be here with my preorder. I just hope it's not lame, and that some fun party games do continue to come out for it. Hawk
I'm going to get it eventually, however I've been playing mostly ps3 though recently so I might just wait for the inevitable price drop.
I want to at least test it first on somebody elses' budget before getting one, I am not really sure this is as good/smooth working as they claim it to be. Surely not at this price.
Not interested at all. It's not what I seek by playing video games, so I'm not even going to consider buying it.
Also to correct my point of view in this, If I ever consider buying it at a low price its to mostly to control the dashboard/movies so I don't need to find my remote/controller, and or any other fun features it may bring. Games I am not really too excited about it, it seems so aukward to play games in mid air with nothing to hold. I may proof myself wrong, but others will have to convince me first/and I will need to get used to it before consider buying it for games.
I tried it out at the launch party that microsoft held at its store down here and I must say its impresive technology. But I will say the games aren't there yet. I will have to wait till theres a couple of good games before I can even consider dropping money down.
Early reviews are saying that Sonic Free Riders and Fighters Uncaged are steaming piles of horse shit. Oh dear. Kinectimals is apparently rather good and Adventures is scoring reasonably considering it's a pack-in.
I just read a review of Kinect that has definitely tempted me... http://www.destructoid.com/review-going-controller-free-with-kinect-for-xbox-360 but the price is too high when there's no particular game that's calling to me. Maybe once Child Of Eden comes out... On a side note: it's interesting that MS have come out and said that Kinect/controller hybrid games are in the pipeline, as they understand that buttonless gaming isn't the be-all-and-end-all: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2010-11-03-kipman-hybrid-control-games-on-way-to-360
I've played it and Move and yes, both are a waste of cash for the real gamer. Move feels no different than playing Wii. Yes, it's more acurate but the end experiance is just the same. Kinect is slightly better but still you don't feel right and there seems to be a lack of any real sense of control. Basically, if you have a Wii there's no reason at all to buy either of these systems unless you need better graphics for when you're jumping about waving arms and looking like a right tit. Yakumo
If it's true about the tiny apartments on Japan they make fun of then it will be a huge failure there. Except if they will offer free huge apartments with the buying of a Kinect. Or if they wil start renting "Kinect rooms" just like they rent studios for playing music with your friends.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6283514.html  No it's not an eyetoy it's the next generation of game controllers (sarcasm) But seriously some people need to remember, you need some form of input other than a camera seeing what it thinks your doing(first post). I can hear the Xbox fanboys whining about how great kinect is. Just get an eyetoy on PS3, better graphics, same thing, A LOT less $$$.
You know what? No matter what we're thinking about, Kinect will sell millions this holiday! ...or so says Kinect spokesman Kudo Tsunoda on Gamasutra: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...Tsunoda__Kinect_Sales_Will_Blow_Away_iPad.php Even a full and proper facepalm is not neccessary with statements like these you will read on this article.
Watch it go the way of the 32X. $20, gamestores won't take it, it becomes a collectors item. When that happens, even if I don't have a 360, I'll pick one up, so I can say "I have a Kinect" with the response "a what?"
