Fair enough. On another topic, you know what's crap? Sega hasn't rereleased Skies of Arcadia since the Gamecube version. Neither sold that well and both are some of the more expensive games on their respective systems.
Highly likely whatever rights they do have could be negotiated for in a relatively inexpensive manner, as JSRF isn't high profile nor part of a currently ongoing franchise. The question is whether or not Sega would deem it profitable. Spoiler alert: I really don't think so, despite that I would love to see anything related to JSR make a comeback.
I'll tell you what's crap: that they have been re-releasing, porting and remaking the original Space Harrier so many times since ancient times (I want to buy the 3DS version someday), yet they never made a console port for Planet Harriers. Same goes for Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder, a great sequel which I prefer over the original trilogy yet it remained an arcade exclusive despite Golden Axe's popularity.
Yeah, I'd love to see Planet Harriers on something, given that I don't think I've ever seen the arcade machine. BTW the 3DS version of Space Harrier is pretty awesome (shameless plug)
Mainly because in the Saturn era they decided to port The Duel instead. Unfortunately, because that game sucks.
idk they thought JSR was profitable enough for the re-release on Steam a little more than 2 years ago, almost complete with all of the music, they even released a new OST which included some of the better songs from JSRF which was sweet. I did my part and bought a copy on Steam and XBL!
http://www.siliconera.com/2015/03/24/why-sega-are-dropping-console-games-for-mobile/ Their mobile phone games are making lots of money for them. But how many of these profitable games were localized? Only two, Dragon Coin (which has always connection issues for me) and Kingdom Conquest II. Chain Chronicles was localized by gumi, the development company of this game.
Of course, the only non-mobile game they mentioned that has been released in the west is Sonic Boom, which sold poorly (maybe because it's terrible and exclusive to the least popular eighth gen console). The others, Yakuza Zero (I think it might be localized), and Phantasy Star Nova (which isn't being released outside Asia, and is exclusive to the other least popular eighth gen console) haven't been released worldwide. Alien Isolation, on the other hand, was on both Sony and Microsoft's seventh and eighth gen consoles (and PC as well) and has sold over a million copies in about 3 months. It's no GTA, but for a game based off a franchise that hasn't done anything noteworthy this millennium, that's pretty darn good.
