Seconded, and between this, Daytona and Sonic Generations Sega have an impressive streak of not fucking things up going...it's kind of scary.

Same with the 360 version in Japan. Not a single mention of Sonic CD here so I bought it from the UK store.

Johnny, can't you buy games from a different region on the PS3? On the 360 you just make a new profile for what ever region you want to access then buy some Microsoft points from independent dealers on the net and then buy what you want from the 360 store region of your choice. After making your purchase you can log back in to your normal profile and play your games.

That is one of the really good things about the 360. Just a shame they've messed up the dashboard with the new update.

This was really worth the 400 points. This is the Sonic game I never played. I'm wondering if the retro engine is an emulator though.

Also wanted to ask, is this how retro games look when you spend the money on an expensive scaler? I read a little bit about the retro engine but was wondering how they got this to work so well. Usually a home made emu can stutter or look blurry (due to filters) but this game looks so clean on an LCD as if I was running it from a CRT. The only other games I played that look great and play like the originals are the Virtual Console games.

Miri on Neogaf pointed me to this:

It is a pretty good read. Sure would like to see other classics in 16:9 like Toe Jam and Earl.

It's an engine, not an emulator. A brand new engine, made over a few years by essentially a fan.

To be honest the Mega CD version running through the XRGB with scanlines looks better BUT it's not in widescreen. This remake while not having a true retro filter does a very good job with the sharp option plus the widescreen effect is done really well without distorting the graphics. Other bonuses are the full screen video plus I love the way they've put the ending video in to a box just like the original Mega CD version. It's little details like that which really pleased me. This version of Sonic CD is how all Retro games should be handled. It's a fantastic job and Sega should be praised for going this route rather than a piss poor emulation job or even worse a port of the PC version which is what they did for the Game Cube.

It's the same on the PS3. Still, having two or more separated online wallets would be money not spent. Most stuff on PSN have prices like 4.99, 19,99, 7,49 and so on. And pre-paid cards are 10, 20, 50, not counting the extra cost of buying it online.

That's why i only buy stuff from the USA PSN Store. Otherwise i would have credit on other region store(s) for nothing. Or worse, would end up buying anything just to clear the wallet.

Anyway, i prefer waiting some days.

You shouldn't be paying more buy buying online. I actually save money buying UK points

Well, the last time i got 2 pre-paid cards (One of $10 and one of $20) the extra cost of getting these pre-paid cards online added $5 dollars to each card.

In the end, to get $30 for the online wallet i spent $40. Also, don't forget the currency convert to Reais.

By the way Euro and Japanese pre-paid cards are more expensive.

Hmm, remake? Or should I play one of the two original SegaCD copies I have?

    Decisions, decisions.

Got this on iPhone last night. Absolutely brilliant conversion. I've played this game to death on real hardware and I think I actually prefer this version. I'm praying for a Mac AppStore release.

You never got back to me on this. By "PS2 copy", you mean Sonic Gems Collection?

Gems Collection was horrible, this more than makes up for it.
Anyway, I also got the iOS version and the controls work surprisingly well (of course, for Sonic you only really need left, right and one button), and yes, it has the opening movie and both soundtracks.

What? May I remind you that you like terrible level designs by Dimps? There are some cheap shots in Sonic CD like falling rocks you can't see, but nothing as bad as anything shat out by Dimps since Sonic Advance 1.

    First post!

Downloaded Sonic CD lastnight for iOS, bloody brilliant conversion, that even works decently with touch-screen controls.

I really like the fact Sega's been getting involved with outside indie dev's, and showing appreciation for there work.

Here's looking forward to the Steam-release!

One of my friends is planning to buy it so I guess I'll play his copy and see if I like it.
