Please be patient with JR and andrew75. I know that's hard to do, but for this situation it's necessary.

Edit: Sorry for stating something that's already there, but andrew talked to me about it for the EXACT same thing on Senntient.

JR Is currently very busy as of late and has not had the time to do anything this past week. Sometimes we need to do real world things.

I wonder how today's Sega would respond on all of this.

Soon I will receive a NTSC Cartdev, that will allow me to do some better testing of the Saturn code.

In the meantime I am looking at differences between the NV1 and the Saturn versions of the engine.

Any recommendations as to what to use to record VGA video from the NV1 and S-Video or RGB from the Saturn?

You could get something like this for console and PC recording , It has HDMI in , so you could maybe also get a VGA to HDMI adaptor and use that to capture the NV1 footage. Although im sure there may be some program one could use on an old computer to capture the desktop.
The above link may not be the best card for the job, never used it so I don't know if it drops frames or anything like that.
Stay away from the cheep capture devices if you want better quality capture, afterall you get what you pay for . Perhaps someone on the forum here has something they could lend out .

    A VGA to HDMI adaptor.

VGA and RGB recording is tough. I use this, but it isn't cheap (and you need a sync device for RGB, which is extra)

    Results are great mind you...

Dont waste your money on one of those VGA to HDMI adapters, they just hurt the quality of video. You may think it looks decent, but it doesn't.

Unfortunately I dont have an NV1 setup (or a Saturn with me, currently), otherwise I would happily help as I have been :)

Over 300$ easily. The XCapture-1 is similar, but USB3 instead of PCI-e 2.0.

The only converter I had any decent luck with was component to HDMI. It was pretty good. But I tried a few VGA converters, and all were bad.

But with that card, you get composite, s-video, RGB (with an additional adapter), HDMI, and VGA, with 240p support (have to line double as it registers as 720x240p, for now anyway) all the way up to 1080p60.

Hmm, while I am pretty happy to spring for hardware I care about, capture devices are not on my wish list, especially expensive ones.

Of course it would be great to capture some high quality videos over time, but I am not so sure I have much interest in spending close to $1000 just to buy capture cards that I will likely never use again after this work...

By the way I don't have a "modern" desktop, so any PCIE cards are out of the question, which I guess pretty much leaves the X-Capture.

Not too bad actually. back in 1999 I had a capture card, man it was up there in price ( around 900 bucks or so ) and the image quality was crap. lol

That thing is terrible. Ive tried to spend 75$+ on converters, it just doesnt do the job.

You'll be able to use cheaper devices to capture S-Video anyway, which is better than nothing. Even the XCapture will require decent hardware for USB3.0.

Id happily spring for an NV1 if they would show up hah.
