Just curious about the PSP TV output. A) Did they demonstrate? B) Did they give any information on the resolutions C) will the output be an improvement over what is currently provided on PSP equipment that can currently output via VGA (i.e. Tool & Test). I was so tempted to watch (thanks for pointing it out Taucias and DRussian) however I had to really concentrate on collision domains (yawn). I ask because the graphics output of the Test unit is rather blocky and I might be tempted to go for a new PSP if the output was improved. My head says "No chance!" and my heart says "Please Sony, please!" I think it clearly demonstrated however how difficult we gamers really are. Sony produced the PSP as a portable games console and we immediately demand that we can use it on a TV lol. I'll also be hunting down MSG4 video to see what all the fuss is about.
Thanks ;-) Just had a look. A) Nicely updated site. I've not frequented PtoP for a while. Looking good! B) Finally, and I mean FINALLY Sony are taking their advertising seriously. Had they not gone for that stupid "This is living" and actually spent the time & effort shown in those "sizzles" (especially the second one with the images of the consoles) then I think they probably would have created more interest prior to launch. I am still not seeing any advertising really making any impact in the UK. They may have hit the printed media, but I am struggling to think of much TV coverage. Some titles worth considering in that lot. Thank GOD!
Durring the conference, they did demonstrate it with Spiderman 2 movie. I've yet to try the tool video out but I noticed on another site they showed the new options for video out. There looks to be an option to let you select between 16:9 or 4:3 tv display (i guess on 4:3 it puts it into an artificial 16:9. There also is the option to output in progressive scan. That sounds odd but actualy there are multiple cables sony will sell. There is the standard AV via composite, S-Video, D-Sub (jpn) & Component. I guess in the future they will also do a HDMI version. Over all it seems the video out wont be a half baked idea.
I don't own a PSP, but with this tv out option (and off course waiting for the new one to run homebrew) ill get one for sure! Don't see that HDMI thing happening though
Apparenlty SCEE are making an announcement concerning Uk and European pricing today (Thursday 12th July).
The MGS4 movie is nice, less impressive than the last one though. I see a distinct lack of shader work, so it must be fairly early. At the moment it looks great but needs a lot of work, especially the hair and the clinical look of the textures and models. Deserts of horribly dusty places. Also IMO the designers are desaturising the scene far too much. I'd like to see HDR lighting (sacrificed for the high level of AA I am guessing) and more vibrancy in the colours, which is simply a style choice that could be easily fixed.
They showed GT5 and it was just ... WOW !!!! This will sell PS3 in Japan like they are going out style.

"I think it clearly demonstrated however how difficult we gamers really are. I'll rather have a PSP with internal memory (even at a premium) than a stupid video-out I'm never going to use:fresh:
