i LOL'd. way to be a rebel.. it was glitchy and didn't draw me in AT ALL. but hey, whatever floats your boat dude.
don't pay mind to taucias, he's one of the few surviving SONY fan boys on the board and he's only saying it because it was a Ps2 exclusive ;P
I thought there were more than just him. 3s problem was besides that it was a glitch fest they spent too much time packing it with modes. Character Creation in 3 got real boring real fast as you were very limited. (IV can get prohibitive but changes in the system your created character can still stand out) IV still has problems. I like the Armor Break but what about weapons? Weapon Breaks was one of the things that made Soul Edge stand out over it's Calibur Half Brothers. You can't do tag team in other modes. Create a Soul gives you 50 slots but if you edit a regular character that takes up one of those slots. Why not split the character edits? If you want to give a character a new weapon you need to do it in character creation rather than selecting it when you pick your character. If they fix that in Soul Calibur V and also no guest characters in V (but leave the 5 bonus people in because Shura is awesome) Then V will easily be the best. As it stands now IV is the best one since the first and ALMOST better but those flaws keep it from being so. I'd Rank the Soul Series like this Calibur IV Edge II III if you haven't played Soul Edge (or Soul Blade for home) you should check it out it's quite a bit different from the caliburs.
I didn't care much for Soul Edge. Soul Calibur in the Arcade and on the DreamCast is what really got me. And Soul Calibur 2 in the Arcade was so fantastic I imported the GameCube console potr from Japan as I could not wait however many months we had to wait. It was totally worth it. I'll play SC4, someday, but I'm in no hurry to play it. Also, personally I'd rather play Soul Calibur on DreamCast or get the Arcade PCB than play it on the 360 arcade. Am I the only one that feels that way? I mean I know it's on the Live Arcade but I couldn't buy it, not with the perfectly good GD-ROM and a DreamCast to play it on. I will agree I didn't ever get into SC3 that much. I thought it was decent though as I never saw any of the glitches or broken shit you speak of.
I've played the all the games extensively. Soul Edge is actually the best in my mind, but all of them can ultimately be won by a newb button bashing. I have seen it happen, a great player (I'm not talking championship level) in the arcades beating all that challenged him until some random teen came over and wiped the floor with him. Then the teen was beaten by one of my buddies, who I know is a terrible player. It is a cheap series in a lot of ways, but it is very entertaining and visually rich. I'm not trying to be a rebel. Your opinion is as correct as mine, it is personal opinion. Says the Nintendo fanboy that likes SC2 because he can play as Link
Link Is the best bonus character from II. I don't understand Spawn at all still. He's awesome to use but pointless.
Your not the only one that feels that way - which is why I never bought Ikaruga on Xbox Live Arcade. I enjoy the nostalgia that comes from the DC boot up screen
Fanboy I am, yet I m also objective when it comes to games - my bias is never hidden if any is actually involved That aside, SCII sold more copies on the GC than the other platforms last time I checked, despite the bigger user-base of the PS2. SCII is genuinely better than SCIII, irrespective of platform and I can cite the glitches of III as an example as to why this is. Furthermore, the best version of SCII , all being equal but differing on the bonus character portion, is the GC version thanks to Link. The reason Link is a better bonus character compared to Spawn and Heihachi is because he's actually fun to play and fits into the medievil/sword/epic spirit of the SC series, in contrast with Spawn and certainly Heihachi who doesn't even weild a weapon ffs!
My favorite part of 3 was the memory corruption feature. I want this but the price is bullfuck since I know the second I try to play it with anybody or on Live people are going to be assholes. I'm gunna have to wait and get VF5 if I want a fighting game since it's around 20$.
III being PS2 only made no sense for that very reason. I guess one could argue the cube pad is Teh Suck for fighters though it worked well for the naruto games. But Yeah I was quite pissed over III's PS2 onlyness then after I got my PS2 and III I saw I wasn't missing much at all. So for IV to be as good as it is was a pleasant surprise they took what worked in 2 and next genned it.
I want to pick this up and play it but the $60 tag is just not going to work out for me right now. If I can pick it up used cheap in a few months I will snag it easily, it just doesn't seem like it is worth it right now. I am going to have to hook up my DC when I get home from work after reading through all these postings.
Ill always prefer the Xbox version, if only for the 720p support (and no, that doesnt require a 360 )
all hails for the never-ending namco button bashing style. people in 2007/8 is equally retarded as in 1997/8 ..damn!! DAMN !!! DAMN!!! WHAT THE HELL IS DOING DARTH VADER THERE?? what's next? MC HAMMER in soul calibur 5??
I can make him in IV Cheaper Asian versions ftw http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-dw-77-1-49-en-15-Soul+Calibur+IV-70-2wnu.html It's weird though it's the asia version but the instrutions are in french...where in asia do they speak french?
