Honestly speaking I feel everyones' pain regarding sony, I personally refuse to purchase any official $ony accessories, just look at how much they charge you on a HDMI cable, or the fact that here in RSA we have to pay 40-60% more for any official product they bring into the country(compared to most other places). Price wise , you could bring in a PSP 3000 from the states , pay for postidge and import duties, make a profit, and you will still come out a R1000($142 US) cheaper than it was selling locally, and PS3 duel shock Controller Costs R650($92 US), they rape us Thank god for 3rd party accessory manufacturers like logitech that are reasonably priced here.
Why would anyone buy a Sony HDMI cable? It's just a regular HDMI cable, any one you can buy at an electronics store will work. Although I'm sure the console manufacturers will make proprietary HDMI cables for next gen
The thing with 3rd party peripherals though is that for the most part they're shit, the only reason they sell is because they're cheap. There are a few exceptions obviously, HORI still make some nice sticks for example but the quality's not what it was years ago. Cables are a different thing entirely but for me personally when it comes to spare or replacement pads anything other than official is money down the shitter. They don't feel right, they don't weigh the same and usually only last a month or two at best.
Proprietary HDMI, oh god, not looking forward to that wallet fuck when it eventually starts with console manufacturers. I'm very tentative about the next generation and will be watching with interest to see what it brings. I enjoy console gaming, however if Sony and Nintendo don't get their acts together I may not bother at all. Definitely thinking about reverting back to PC gaming, at least that way I'll end up with a piece of hardware I can do what I please with.
Damn right, I've never had a 3rd party controller (if you don't count arcade sticks) that was anywhere near as good as official ones. At least we got rid of having to buy memory cards, as far as accessories go those fucked over the consumers the worst.
actually they cant because the HDMI spec states that for something to be certified or even legal the cable must be HDMI male on both ends with devices having only HDMI female theres currently talks about a forced recall of a display port to hdmi cable now adapters are a different story i could bet alot of money on sony going back to there good old proprietary video out and having a 29.99 adapter for hdmi
The reason why I brought up the HDMI cable is that they will avoid your warranty if you use a 3rd party HDMI cable, it was on some news sites a few years ago, dont know how true it is though ( http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=789061 ), but then again you will have to be stupid enough to admit it to them. As for controllers, 1st party is of course better, but for my second controller, thats not going to be used all that often, there's nothing wrong with a logitech (thats half the price), atleast in my opinion , the same for other things like docking stasions, av cables, pouches, bags, cases etc... , but I do draw the line at chargers and power supplies.
The Hudson Bomberman controllers for the Saturn were actually really good. My favorite Saturn controller to use in fact.
So, can you use the PS3 DualShock with a regular (not PSPGo) system? I've wanted to be able to use a regular PS controller while playing on the TV before. Has this been added to the PSP-2000 or PSP-3000 series via firmware update?
Thing is I'm not too fond of Nintendo either. They used to be a great game maker and their old systems had EVERYTHING...then they started to rely on gimmicks which alienated people and developers.... At least Nintendo isn't suing people over jailbroken Wii's and if I said I hated the NES and SNES then you could say I have no soul.
Speaking of scummy companies. DT Soft aren't much better. I ran a trial along time ago of DaemonTools. I uninstalled it. Come to use it now (Trial again) and it wont let me (Knows I used it before). Open registry and delete its entry. Reboot. Try to install same shit. If these scummy bastards hide stuff within other folders etc so that deleting its registry entry wont make it forget you used it. Who knows whatelse they may be doing.
You've got to be shitting me...although that topic does say component cable, and they say HDMI wouldn't fall under that. Some more bullshit that annoys me: shipping consoles with only composite cables in 2011. Who buys a PS3 and hooks it up with composite cables?
That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. There is no difference between a SONY or any other branded cable that costs £20+ and the one made by Signalex that sells for a quid in Poundland. Still it doesn't stop the A/V geeks from pissing money down the drain on them though.
There is a difference between the Signalex £1 cable and the £20 branded cable. Simply the build quality. The rubber coating won't be as good and will get damaged etc. Video will be the exact same. Difference between the £20 branded cable and the £60+ sony cable? None whatsoever.
thats NOT capitalism thats SCREW-A-NOMICS capitalism is making a good or useful thing for cheep and selling for a slim profit and getting rich on selling a huge volume its like using proprietary screws or parts to keep people out of stuff that belongs to them so they cant tinker or fix it also nice pokemon/finial fantasy joke
That would be one of the numerous reasons why I sold my PS3 and decided not to buy anything related to $ony ever again.
