Ugh doesn't component support up to 1080 interlaced? isn't that considered HD? why not just release a newer version that doesn't play blu ray or dvd movies, it's a games console first not second.
It does, I meant if they went through with this whole thing, you couldn't use component cables to output HD from your PS3. Because one of their main sales points is that the PS3 can do a lot of stuff, and also because Blu-Ray viewing is a major selling point for a lot of people.
Blu-Ray may have been a driving force at launch in 2007 but now you can pick standalones up from just £50. What may have been a tempting bit of kit to some 4 years ago is now not quite the bargain it once was if you're using it only for a movie player or media centre.
While I meant "standard definition" RF, this is a valid point I hadn't considered. Anything out now could actually do HD RF. You would still be getting a digital image, but maybe avoid some of the "issues" with using an HDMI connection. You would also work on all current and new TVs... at least in the US. Since the government mandated the change over, at the very least people would have converter boxes on their old TVs, so you'd still be backwards compatible.
nope its yellow composite but then in the 6th gen era with the PS2 component blue green red( its as clear as RGB but green isn't transmitted over it but built from the red and blue signals ) became the standard but consoles still packaged with yellow composite
S-Video was never even close to popular in the US. For whatever dumb reason Composite and RF was pretty much all you got for a long time. Maybe some more expensive sets had S-Video. By the time I saw it on a TV, Component Video was around too, and the first Xbox was out. So pretty much atleast until PS2 and the DVD age all I ever remember seeing is Composite and RF.
the Genesis needs to be modded to add s video its not native the saturn i believe did support s-video via official cable and i wanna say the early PS1's have s-video in an actual female port on the back the same one that has dedicated composite video
Yes, the Saturn supports S-Video. Magnifies the pixel-mesh issue though... especially on Radiant Silvergun, yeesh. I thought that game had true transparencies until I played it through S-Video.
Nah, it just shows how shit the image quality is over composite. If you can, play a Saturn over RGB. It will look even sharper and better. Yeah, the mesh thing is more noticable but 2D stuff looks amazing. Yakumo
I thought the S-Video was more a japanese thing than a US thing. But I stick with the CRT factor rather than the connection factor. There's nothing worst than the need to change the setup to play something, like lightgun games or those vertical displays, imo. =)
Might just be the Genesis then, i'm sure my friends PAL MD II had a S-Video port unmodded, i've never used Composite or S-Video for my PAL consoles or PC's only RGB-Scart, RF and DIN.
There was a period near the end of the reign of CRT TVs where many new sets (in the US) had composite, S-Video, and sometimes even component video inputs. I've owned 2 such sets. I'm talking about large, 27"+ TVs. The smaller ones generally didn't have all that stuff. S-Video never took off in the US, but we did have it for a while. I'm sure if you asked the average person (even back then) what "S-Video" is, they'd be totally clueless. Then again, most people don't know what "RCA" or god forbid "composite" means. But if you showed them the 3 little colored cables they'd understand. Not so with S-Video. Some HDTVs have S-Video, but it's becoming increasingly rare. S-Video is a hell of a lot better than composite, but still not as good as RGB. The quality of S-Video also varies a lot - the S-Video out of my Wondermega looks almost like RGB (although the colors blend a bit), whereas the S-Video from my N64 doesn't look nearly as good. A strange thing I've noticed: the S-Video image from my Wondermega is actually slightly sharper than the RGB from my Saturn, but the colors are not as good.
PC gaming has so much other bullshit not worth putting up with that I got out of it forever several years ago.
I have a Sony MP3 player but no TV-out cable,it is really expensive. My 10 years old camera accepts only up to 128MB Memory Sticks. Memory Card * 1000,Sony would say.
