When you get more super everdrive with dsp1 I'll buy definitely Krikzz, thanks I just got my everdrive-md recently. Great piece of gear. Wynd
Just wondering is there any difference between the clock gen on an NTSC dsp-1 cart and the one used on a PAL cart?
7.6mhz on both and circuit is same. anyway seems like dsp not very sensitive to clock. once for test i installed 12mhz crystal and games works fine on this clock.
Hello Krikzz, From your images I cannot see where the 1MOhm resistors goes? I have a SNES everdrive on order via the group buy and have ordered an original DSP1 cart to use the case and get the DSP from it. Will you make more clear instructions to add the DSP1? It looks very straight forward but would be nice to have a step by step guide. Thanks
i will not create more clear instruction. i think that info from this thread should be more than enough. 1mohm resistorn shown on the pthoto from my previos post http://img248.imageshack.us/i/img1038uz.jpg/ you just should be more attentive
Not a problem. I will create a tutorial to perform this once I get my Super Everdrive and post it up for anyone that wants to do this themselves.
Technically they all use the same chip (NEC uPD77C25) but each has different code on it, so (as KRIKzz said) they are not compatible. Also its worth noting that the DSP-2/3/4 are all only used by one game each, so in order to get one of those DSP's you would have to destroy the very game you want to play, which would be pretty pointless!
True but my reasoning was that if the DSP-4 could be dropped in you could then play DSP-1/2/3 titles by sacraficing 1 cart. But since they aren't backwards compatible I obviously won't be taking that route! Though SuperFX compatibility should be interesting given there are at least three or four different chip revisions that all seem compatible with each other to some extent. Seems the main issue is clock differences. Be awesome to play some Star Fox 2.
Thanks, I'd really appreciate that. Seems like something the creator MIGHT find worthwhile, but whatever... Also, does anyone know if all three versions of the DSP1 (DSP1, DSP1A/B) would work for the same group of games, or are the revisions not backwards compatible?
So, can anyone upload a video on how to install the DSP-1 chip on the everdrive? It really is stating to sound like a handful.
guys! dsp carts available here http://www.tototek.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=38&products_id=138
Desoldering and resoldering a SuperFX chip certainly wouldn't be for the average do it yourself person. It's some surface mount chip with a whole lot of tiny pins. More trouble than the DSP1. It would be neat though, if there was a SNES cart that supported the two main big enhancement chips in a manner like this. The two main ones (outside of dsp1) are SA-1 and SuperFX.
not hard to solder or unsolder sfx, but there is need much more complex hardware to make cart supported with both chips
Interesting. Does Tototek plan to sell other krizz carts? It would be nice to buy Super Everdrive and Megadrive carts from there?
