OK, I just got one of the E models (the "set package 1"). Boots to the dev launcher with flash 17349.0 and recovery 17483.0 - describes itself as a "Xbox 360 Test Kit". Just has the standard XDK samples on it, which work as normal. No sign of a 512MB/1GB switch, so I assume it's 512MB only. The case doesn't appear to have been opened, but none of the numbers match - the serial number in system info is different from the one on the label, and that's different from the one on the chassis. There doesn't seem to be any way to attach a sidecar to it - so this is presumably a stress test board. The other stuff supplied with it consisted of a PSU and controller (both appear to be new and genuine MS parts) and a 3rd party HDMI cable and power cable. No box. Original discs are not recognized - they come up as "play DVD".
Thank you for telling us @TriMesh. Can you say much else regarding the condition of the items other than the SN and IDs?
It's clearly been used - there is some dust buildup on the case near the cooling fan, and a minor scuff on the front panel, but the overall condition is pretty good - this one still has most of the plastic that's supplied attached to the shiny part of the case on it, for example. It also still has the little "Xbox360" QR code sticker on the rear panel - this might be a replacement, but if it is then it's a good one since it looks identical to the one on my other 360E The manufacture date is shown on the case as July, 2014, but I don't know if that actually means anything since it seems possible the case has been exchanged. Oh, and the supplied 500GB is in a caddy with a 500GB pull tag but no front label, and is not recognized by my retail console, so presumably it's just a standard drive in a case.
Thanks for the info. I suppose this is some form of a reliable seller on the site but we should still be weary for purchasing them if what you say is accurate. Much obliged Trimesh
Original discs wouldn't without the hacked files on whatever hdd was inside. I have an E xdk as well. All my serials do match. No stress cables, no indication it's anything but a retail on the outside. One decal on the side but nothing stating xdk on back. Prototype yellow led flashing at top of kit and standard xdk green at rear of the console mobo. No 1gb option on mine either. Launcher says test kit as well. No sidecar port.
His description was "99% new" - I would probably describe it as "95% new", but that's largely just the difference between the way mainland sellers and the ones in HK describe things. Here, "99% new" means it's used, but you couldn't tell this from looking at it - in the mainland, it seems to mean "works perfectly and is in very good condition" - what someone in HK would call 95% new. @XboxSurgeon - Yeah, I should have mentioned that - I haven't opened the case, but you can see the yellow and green LEDs though the air vents at the side - so I'm pretty sure that it's a real "built as an XDK" motherboard.
None as such - I just asked one of my friends in Shenzhen to order one and bring to over to me the next time he was in HK.
What a nice friend. I think the general consensus is that this is fairly okay in price (granted you pick option 1) as well as you keep in mind purchase methods...
There probably isn't much point in this, since it's visually identical to a retail anyway, but here is a photo for anyone that wanted an idea of what the condition was like: http://assemblergames.com/l/media/360e-xdk.723/
2 years ago I got one of these: http://world.taobao.com/item/13058884242.htm?spm=a312a.7700714.0.0.J6nDGS#detail was in china and let someone order it for me. have posted about this before. The case is a unkown xbox 360, metal inside is from a Xbox 360 pro, and motherboard another unkown xbox 360 (all according to MS registery pages) The sidecar works and XKD seems to work aswell.. havent done alott yet... I just realy want to warn some of you. They also sell retail modded kits as XDK.. talk to the sellers (yourself or a agent/friend) and check the sellers reputation (diamonds, crowns that kind of stuff) also if the seller wont respond to chats within a few days... stay way (was advice from a chinese friend) Got many other nice electronics for cheap (including FPGA devkits stuff) so Toabao is fine (like Alixpress)
