The Bluray Video Quality thread.

Picked up Skyfall a few weeks back AWESOME blu ray. I also grabbed this last night

 

I got the Evil Dead movies on Blu-Ray and they do look good, even the ultra-cheap first one. Skyfall really made me want to get the complete Bond collection too...

 

I would get the bond Blu rays but the Upscaling DVD player I have does too good a job. I may just get a few select bonds on Blu Ray

 

I used to think the DVDs were good enough (and they do look great for DVDs)...then I saw Goldfinger and Live and Let Die on Blu-Ray and the difference in quality is just crazy.

 

Did you know that Wreck it Ralph only got released at the cinema THIS WEEK in Japan. Talk about slow. I saw the movie on a download with my son and we both thought it was pretty poor.

 

Was it dubbed? Cause the performances I thought were really good for the movie. Was surprised here in the states how fast this movie is selling. I saw it in the theater and to be honest I loved it, thought it was a love letter to games.

 

Oh wait you downloaded, lol never mind. Speaking of bond anyone get that bond 50 collection?

 

I'm really on the fence about it myself. I have such a good upscaler (it's an Oppo it upscales better than my Blu Ray player does) but I'm also hearing how good the old ones look on blu ray.

What didn't you like about it? I thought it was cute and I was pretty dismissive of the movie at first before I caved and saw it and LOVED IT.

 

Well, they spent way too much time in the racing game. The glitch character was just another generic annoying "cute" character and the story was so predictable. It was a yawn feast I though. Toy Story 2 and 3 are still the best cgi movies from Disney.

 

It wasn't a perfect movie, but it was still better than I expected. I enjoyed it.

 

It was a hell of a lot better than the last two Pixar movies. No idea how Brave won an Oscar, the plot of that movie is a mess.

By the way if Sugar Rush was a real game, I'd preorder it for whatever DLC it had day one

 

Now that it looks like UHD is actually happening (at some point), I'm slightly reluctant to spend more money on Blu-rays. Very likely I'll be replacing them with UHD copies (or digital files) in a few years.

 

UHD media will probably just be higher capacity blu rays anyway (Future blu rays will be 1 tb)

 

That may be true, but that doesn't really contradict what I said.

 

Uhd is probably for 4k, and it's gonna be a long while till 4k takes off.

Arrived last week and I haven't had time to watch them.
The package is wonderful. But I can not say about the quality of the movies because I have not been able to see them.

I recently bought Prometheus to Alien The Evolution Box Set and wow, the Aliens movies on bluray looks amazing!

 

I use Bluray, but on a 70's tube powered TV.

 

I have the first 2 Alien movieds on BluRay and they do indeed look fantastic. You'd never think they were old movies.

 

I'll just wait for 8k
