I've been a huge fan of old movies on blu-ray, the grain of the film is way more noticeable in high resolution compared to DVD, obviously and fits nicely with a DLP projector. Now to those of you who like old horror movies I'm really really amazed with the treatment they gave to an old classic: This is by far the best restoration I've seen to an old classic. This is only followed closely by the work they did for Twin Peaks The Entire Mystery blu-ray boxset. The interesting part is that, it was made for television, so AR is 16 by 9, no anamorphic here, and still top quality. Also the movie is great to watch with some popcorn and the wife.
It's two early to get one because there is many not films out on 4K blue ray and I haven't got a 4K monitor that has hdcp 2.2 yet.
I have the US force awakens BluRay which I watched the other day. Looked amazing. No complaints at all besides the lack of extras. But we all k ow they are saving them for another release near Christmas.
I was happy with the extras, the deleted scenes were lacking though. Probably saving those for the 2020 3rd trilogy box set in 8k.
I have the Japanese BlueRay releases of Big Trouble in Little China and Bubble Gun Crisis. I was so pissed off that the Bubble Gum Crisis has no extras at all!!! What a f*ing rip off. The DVD box set by Animeeigo is jam packed with extras. So I'm never going to get rid of that.
the Animeeigo blue ray of bubblegum crisis has extras and I have the uk DVDs. its out of print because the marsters were destroyed in a wear house fire in the 2011 riots.
Ah, bloody scum ruining everything. Well, it's typical that the Japanese blueray had bugger all extras as Bandai released it from what I remember and they love to shift their customers by charging a crazy price and giving little in return.
Yep, and I bet there were next to no extras on it too I remember buying the Manga video released of Macross Plus. I had the UK released soundtracks too. I think they were on the demon label.
The extras are nothing special but the picture quality is very good and the Japanese 5.1 mix is impressive but the english subs are bad.you should check out anime limited their are uk based they put out some nice box sets they are not cheap but the there disks are locked to region b only. gurren lagann box set cost me £180.99 and patema £ 49 .99
star trek the wrath of khan looks bloody awful. Is that a BluRay capture? The others look good. Off topic but I own the Dirty Pair 7" vinyl which contains the title theme, Ro Ro Ro Russian roulette and the ending theme, Space Fantasy.
Yes it's a bluray capture and wrath of Khan was restored for blue ray and you are most likely seeing the film grain.
