You've built up quite a collection in a short time. That's more than I own. I think I've got about 15 or so BluRays.
Amazon trade Credit and knowing what is on sale will do that. I've probably spent maybe less than $400 on the entire collection. Not as good as Casino Royale that's for sure. I don't think it'll be remember as one of the great Bond films but I don't consider it bad either. The only Bonds I don't like are Die another day and Octopussy.
Dunno why exactly I dislike QoS so much, I have all the Bond movies on DVD (they're releasing a BD set later this year!) and it's one of the only ones I never feel like watching, along with Die Another Day because that's just a terrible movie. It's probably because of the shaky cam and the incomprehensible plot, and I never did like Craig as Bond. The whole thing just feels like a generic 2000s action movie (or maybe a Bourne ripoff), not like a Bond movie at all. Casino Royale is great though.
Yeah I have all the other Bonds on DVD and see no real need to upgrade as the DVDs look good enough upscaled. I think Quantam is weak becuase it just exists to tie up Casino Royale's loose ends but it goes off and tries to do it's own thing. At the same time I think Craig is what Saves it. I ALMOST think Craig is a better Bond than Connery and that's saying something. But it's also Blasphemy to alot of Bond Fans But looking back we really only remember From Russia with Love and Goldfinger. NOBODY ever talks about You only live twice (Besides OH SO THAT IS WHERE DR EVIL CAME FROM) Thunderball, Dr No and Diamonds are Forever.
The DVDs do look great, but the colors would definitely look better on BD...doubt I'll upgrade now, gonna wait for the set to get cheaper. From Russia with Love is my favorite of all the Bond movies, but you're wrong about nobody ever talking about Dr. No, if only because it was the first movie, and besides, it's pretty good too. The reason nobody ever talks about Diamonds are Forever is because it's awful.
Yeah and the Original Bond Girl Ursula Andress is one of the hottest. I'll admit FOR ONCE that I'm wrong. But it's not talked about as much as Goldfinger or from Russia with love. Diamonds are Forever is horrible only because George Lazenby's Agent was a complete Moron had it followed up right from On her majesty's secret service it might have been really really good. I also think Timothy Dalton was a bit underrated as Bond. The Living Daylights isn't one of my all time favorites but I enjoy it in an "Oh this is Ironic now" sorta way.
How are The Killer and Hardboiled Blurays? They're two of my favorite movies of all time. I'm also excited for the 25th Anniversary Princess Bride Bluray coming out soon!! <3
I can't say much for the Killer as I haven't watched it yet. Hard Boiled isn't an amazing Transfer but it's not horrible either it's a definite upgrade from the DVD though. Yeah I'll be getting that Princess Bride reissue too. I already have Blade Runner Pre ordered
Man...how many versions of Blade Runner can they release? I already have the Final Cut on BD, so I'll take a pass on the new one, especially since the collector's edition looks like crap.
It takes everything in the ultra expensive Ultimate Collector's edition, packages it a consumer-friendly package, and adds some 30th anniversary goodies. It's inexpensive and worth it. From BluRay.com: I have the five disc version from the HD-DVD days, and I have the option of converting that to Blu Ray for $15. I'll wait for this, as I am gaining a lot for $8, including having the special features on Blu Ray, rather than SD DVDs.
I had it on DVD I'm not as crazy about it as I am Hard Boiled I like the twist at the end though and the final Shoot out which is better than the end of Hard Boiled
That's Edward Furlongs charm and why they picked him. You see John Connor and immediately think "THIS little shit is going to save the future?!?" It makes you more enthralled in the scene where the T800 goes to save Sarah Connor, because she NEEDED to get out and it makes it even more important. A little shit of a son like that was not going to save the future. John Connor was then more likeable in the future sequels like T3, SCC and T4 (which is mainly because CHRISTIAN BALE)
Got Royal Tenebaums and Jaws on blu ray the other day. Really good transfers. Jaws is phenomenal for a movie that age, on the extras they showed the restoration process and they did quite a scrubbing, almost like watching new movie (the film stock from that era was good compared to the odd choices in the 80s). Royal Tenebaums looks insane as well and I had the criterion dvd. Lighting and colors really come out good on this one. Ferris Bulers day off is another that has a real good transfer and showed how well shot it was for an 80s comedy. I think I got about 22 blu rays now which surprises me since I didn't think I would be collecting them. But lately prices have been real good on them. As for complaints about grain, keep in mind that blu ray resolution is so high it does expose the grain in the film that sometimes depending on release they might not put the effort to clean up due to costs or it possibly ruining the film image cause of the way it was shot.
I didn't think I'd be collecting Blu rays either but movies look so good plus I had just taken a Film class I just keep picking up classic after classic. I'm waiting for a Life Aquatic Blu Ray, I feel like my collection needs more Bill Murry
It's said to be a very good transfer which version though the 3 disc with Hearts of Darkness or the two disc?
