The 3-disc version, I'd love to have an HD version of Hearts of Darkness, and it's only like 3 pounds more on Amazon UK.
I have and several other people here do too, the transfers are really good and there's a lot of extras.
Probably the best Blu Ray set I own. Universal besides maybe Warner Brothers really goes all out on their blu ray releases
I have the limited edition set, it's excellent. It even includes a little OUTATIME license plate, Gray's Sports Amanac and so on. Great set but I think it's hard to find now?
Got my Blu-Ray player today wasn't region free out of the box, but the factory menu solved that. Not bad for $79.
Lost in Translation Tugs at all the right heart strings. I don't think that movie would have worked in any country other than Japan either. Then all the heart strings it didn't tug, Shawshank did. I feel spoiled I've watched some of the best movies ever made this summer.
I'm currently, *ahem* sampling The Avengers to see if it is worthy of purchase. Basically, if the movie is any good, it'll be on my shelf with a quickness. I watched The Last Starfighter BR earlier today. Great, unsung package.
I don't need to "Sample" many movies since I get Shotime and Cinemax. But I do have "Samples" of Iron Man 1 and 2 to see if I want to even bother with The Avengers.
I doubt a big, dumb super hero movie could've been done any better than The Avengers, definitely getting when it comes out on BD.
I like Captian America. It sticks closer to the comics unlike OTHER super hero movies I know coughnolansbatmancoughwolverineorginscough AND more Blu rays from my Birthday gift cards have come trinkling in and one other thing but we don't care about that....
Captain America is good, but you don't like Nolan's Batman because it doesn't stick close enough to the comic books? Guess you missed all the obvious references to The Dark Knight Returns, Year One, Knightfall, The Long Halloween etc. Wolverine Origins was terrible though. As far as Blu-Rays go, I was happy to get a copy of To Live and Die in L.A. today.
For the record I have no issue at all with The Dark Knight But Batman Begins and Rises I have issue with. It's not RAZ al Ghul it's RAYSHH Al Ghul. Bane isn't supposed to sound like Sean Connery, He's Latino Plus comic bane wasn't Talia pussy whipped, Batman is Talia pussy whipped but the movie glossed over that (No Damian in Nolan's Universe I guess) Alot of the interesting parts of characters are just glossed over Ra's Al Ghul was more interesting in the comic (even in the animated sereis) than he was in Batman begins. Talia is WAY more interesting than just being "Miranda Tate" and Bane I like the idea from the comics that Batman is the manifestation of the Bat that haunted him in his youth in Prison. I like the movies But it took liberties that didn't need to be taken Because the characters were already very interesting. I do think the Dark Knight Nailed it took some liberties but mostly in the form of taking what happen to one character and making it happen to another.
That's because Ra's Al Ghul's character from the comics just work in a more realistic Batman universe, and I agree became a lot more boring once you remove the whole immortality aspect. Bane worked a lot better even without his magic drug, but the Joker and Scarecrow were definitely the best villains from the movies, even though magic fear gas is really stretching things if you're trying to make a realistic Batman. The "realism" is probably the thing I dislike the most about Nolan's (otherwise great) Batman: why does a comic book universe need to be grounded in reality? "Realism" already made the James Bond movies a lot less interesting, moviemakers need to stop applying that principle to other franchises. 2 was definitely not as good mostly because of the Avengers stuff they crammed in it, especially Scarlett Johansson's worthless character felt shoehorned in.
Agreed, but, I have to say that The Avengers was a solid payoff to what amounted to annoyances in the other films. I am blown away by it - it is as balanced as an Avengers film could ever hope to be, and my one gripe resolved itself by film's end. It's a keeper.
