Scarecrow they nailed it It was funny watching Inception after the fact and seeing Cillian Murphy in a different role. It seems after Insomnia Nolan started double dipping with who he cast in his movies Like Christopher Guest did in his mockumentries. I like Inception more than the Batman movies too it was fresh and different.

Now Yeah Joker Heath nailed it he paid homage to the Jokers before him but made the character his own although I think Jack played a more classic Joker in 89' Batman By a thin Margin I prefer Tim Burton's take on Batman to Nolan's.

And about realism. That's another HUGE problem I have with Begins and Rises. Ra's Al Ghul's Plot is too cartoony for something so realistic. YES WE ARE GOING TO BURN DOWN GOTHAM...because the people suck. 1 film later Bane: I AM GOING TO BLOW UP GOTHAM BECAUSE IT WAS MY MASTER'S WILL.

So yeah that whole cartoon villany bread doesn't really help this Joker Sandwich. At least Joker had no plot, he just wanted Chaos which made him more dangerous.
It just in a realistic approach comes off as silly.

I enjoyed Rises very much Thanks to Anne Hathaway and the great performances by everyone But Neither Rises or Begins are as good as The Dark Knight was.

I'm a big fan of Burton's first Batman movie, and as much as I love Dark Knight, I prefer Burton's Batman. It just feels more...surreal and comic book-like.

Meh, I don't have a problem with that, they're still comic book movies, so cartoonish storylines are just fine with me. And are you really gonna say the Joker was realistic, with all his magical bomb rigging, especially the two ferries, and the fact that he somehow manages to get new henchmen even though he apparently keeps killing them off? What annoys me the most about Begins is how there's a convenient monorail system in Gotham in that movie, then it just seems to disappear in the next two movies. That, and the scene where Crane shows Rachel where they make the gas in Arkham...why not just gas her or kill her? Why show her the gas making room at all, just so she conveniently knows all about their plan and can tell Batman about it?

I think it'd be kinda cool if in the original post we had a list of "user-recommended" Blurays. There's been a lot of suggestions so far and we're several pages in and sorting through the entire thread is sort of a drag. GoH, you willing to go through the thread and pull out the recommendations? I'll <3 U forever. :D

Maybe when I'm not so busy watching movies. I'm watching Casablanca right now.

    Bromance rises

Anyways, I went to Best Buy today and I had a couple Blurays in hand, Clerks and City of God, well I looked them up on Amazon with my phone and they were both about $5 cheaper. So i put them back on the shelf.

That's my bluray story of the day.

I do the same, and even with games... If things are new why remove the shrink wrap? They're secondhand and you're paying $5 extra for a scuffed up case? Bitch please. You did the right thing, loved your story.

I always loved Kevin Smith's comments regarding the Clerks Blu-Ray:

He's wrong, of course. The Blu-Ray is better quality than the DVD release, but still - it's a curious choice as a back-catalogue title to be released for Blu-Ray noting how low budget it is.

Casablanca is a testament to how good a Black and White movie can look on Blu Ray.

I haven't seen Clerks on Blu Ray yet though.

The Day the Earth Stood Still looks good on Blu-Ray too, although it does play in a 4:3 box. There's plenty of interesting extras too, some of which are about UFOs in general.

I watched total recall on bluray recently (the newer "mind bending edition") and it looked pretty damn good! It's a huge improvement over the atrocious 2006 release. Since this new transfer was supervised by Paul Verhoeven it gives me hope that we'll get a new Robocop transfer sometime soon because the current Robocop blu is pretty disappointing.

I saw that triple feature, and I like all of those movies but... now, tell me if i'm just dumb, but i kinda like having each movie have it's own individual case. i know it's cheaper, and makes a lot more sense, but i like going to my shelf and being like, "Oh, Clerks, I'll watch that." I don't know, I'm weird, but it's like, i think it deserves it's own case and packaging. i know, i'm crazy.

No, you're just OCD, like most collectors. I'm the exact same way.

Obviously, I can relate to this, too, but, I'd rather make shelves than have condensed movies. ><
