Wow... which channel is this? God knows where trains are if not on the lines :(

My heart goes out to all those in the worst-hit areas and to those not with loved ones tonight for whatever reason.

It's on every channel. It's written in text that's running across the screen. It is a bit over kill though. All networks showing the same stuff. Do you really need it on every possible channel? In Shimonoseki we have a total of 11 stations yet every one of them shows the same stuff. hmm....... Our TV is off now.

I just don't know what to say. Over here in central Europe we rarely have quakes, just a few little ones in our region since sometimes an old mineshaft collapses - the layers in the earth are setup quite strage here, so the quake is mostly felt miles away from the location where the cave-in occurs. Never felt more than a strange feeling as if you were drunk and some porcellain rattling in the kitchen for no apparent reason.

I just hope that all the preparations pay off and that the people react as calm as possible under the given circumstances.

Hope everyone is ok! -NEW- Nuke plant with no water to cool rods?

I got up 3 hours and 15 minutes ago as I had a doctor appointment so was up an hour earlier than usual. Just got to work but have seen that HORRENDOUS footage of the wave just SWEEPING EVERYTHING across farmland...

I hope all AG'ers are ok, and besides that I hope everyone in affected area in Japan are ok.

What I just heard in the car on the way in on NPR (but it was a BBC feed) was that there is a Nuclear plant that has lost it's power AND the backup generators failed, so there is no water to go over the nuclear fuel rods, and they have evacuated 3km around the plant and told 10km beyond that to "stay indoors." Anyone in Japan have any news on this?

Regards & Hope all are safe - AG'ers from Japan keep checking in, we worry about you!

One solution to that problem is going open DNS, unless Japan has a "great firewall" like China.

You guys probably don't recall but there was a nuclear incident in I believe 2000 or 2001. They totally fucked the pooch on the evac, so hopefully they remember what a PR disaster that was and will do this one right.

I'm sure the number will go down as people get in touch with families (at least i hope!), but Kyodo news agency is reporting 88,000 missing.

The BBC are reporting that up to 10,000 missing in worst hit areas. Watching the moving flood waters/tsunami it's difficult to comprehend the devastation, it's like watching a B movie.

There's a video of one of those whirlpools they keep showing, with some poor bastard in a dinky little boat getting sucked right into it.

That, and the one of the building being swept along while it's on fire. Fucking madness.

God damn. Glad to see most of our JP members have checked in.

    Guys, I'm OK.
I arrived at my home. No injury, Nothing broken.

all the trains had stopped, I used the bus and came home, but it was an intense traffic jam.

Found about this, this morning. Glad to see members here are safe. I'm sure Japan has a good infrastructure nowadays to absorb the earthquake and tsunami (to some degree) to minimize casualties. Thoughts and prayers go out to the families hit hard by the quake and tsunami.

It's freaky how much devastation can happen so quicky with no warning.

Good to hear AG members are OK, it's the first thing I thought of when I seen it on the news.

I really hope Magic Knight, aka an_turtar here on ASM, is going to show up soon. I think he lives in Sendai. :(
