Whoops... wrong thread. This was to Legion in the monitor thread. I didn't drink last night, although I should have. Actually, I ran 10k in the evening!

I was going through all the pics online and I found this one:

The red/blue building on the left is a retro game shop (Seagull) in Ishinomaki that I used to frequent. I hope the guys inside made it out in time.

The Nuclear evacuation was declared and started happened some 10 hours ago, and the tsunami evacuation is still ongoing from aftershocks.... crazy times.

I saw on the news everybody within 3km of the two power plants have been evacuated as they are releasing radioactive gas.

I hope we don't see a Chernobyl like event :(

Nagano is a bit closer to home for me, yet we didn't feel anything here either.

Honestly, it's all a bit surreal for us in Kansai, watching the news and seeing the devastation, seeing it reported on the news across the world and having family phone to check if we're okay... everything is as normal in Kyoto, you'd have no idea that anything happened at all (aside from the fact that you can't catch a JR to Tokyo anymore).

I do have some friends who went to Akita for a few days though, they've had to sleep in Akita station. Apparently there's loads of people there, the train company have provided blankets and heaters. Also, my friend's parents arrived in Japan yesterday. Literally been in Tokyo for little more than an hour or so before the quake hit. Talk about timing...

I felt the last two aftershocks. Had 3 phone disaster-alarms overnight. Softbank nor iPhones don't have that, so it'll only be Docomo users (most of Japan).

Keeping electrical usage to a minimum as they're re-routing power.

    Fuck.

    Some goodish news:
    http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/12/us-japan-quake-idUSTRE72A0SS20110312

You better hope you're right, especially on that 3km radius bit.

    Or not.

    Double Fuck..

I'm currently drinking an old bottle of sake I had stashed away for a special occasion. I felt that the memory of hundreds taken from the earth and the hope that the missing thousands will be recovered is a more worthy thing to drink to.

The level of devastation is just staggering.

We have member living in Sendai, two I know of.

I hope they survived, but the problem is they only had 1-2 minutes warning in Sendai.

    Water was 10 meters high.

I hope they were in the school teaching (as the would be) as it seems to be one of the few buildings that wasn't pushed over.

I'm glad the majority of our members that may have been affected are doing alright, but this whole thing is just a severe mind fuck. I hope to God that everyone we all know and love is safe and free from harm...

From what i see in the news no one is safe in Japan.
I think that there will be nuclear meltdown in several reactors.

There was an explosion at the plant... not sure if it was the reactor or not, but it's fucked. They've sent helicopters in to rescue people.

an_tutar as ave mentioned. His house is on the water basically. :|
Trying to find his mobile number, to no avail.

The BBC are reporting that there are police roadblocks as far as 60km away from the area stopping people getting closer.
