The end is near: Duke Nukem Forever trailer tomorrow

That was an awful teaser, the majority of it was a poorly modelled Duke smoking and lifting weights in a badly lit room. I don`t really know what i had hoped for but not this....

Double post, but holy SHIT, not only was he lifting weights, he was also smoking AND dinking beer! What's manlier?

I thought the weight lifting duke moved pretty crappy. Also the little bit of what could possibly be in-game looked pretty crap imho (paused the video...). The alien models could possibly be ok, but the bus and the rest of the enviroment look pretty crappy as far as i can make it out.

Also, if it ever comes out, it will have to face 10+ years of expectations. Meaning it will most likely disappoint.

 

regardless of whether its good or not.....its 10+ years of somewhat hype will definatley lead to good sales....

 

This is the truth. I'll probably buy a copy just because it will be interesting to see what it turned out like.

I thought this trailer was really terrible, but it's interesting to at least see they're working on it. The minuscule amount of gameplay footage was dumb - the only reason they have shown that much is just to tease people and create anticipation for the game. However, there are massive NDAs on the game. The people that have played it have claimed it to be really good, but honestly I don't expect it to be a bad game.

I'm still kind of sad about the whole game development cycle. All of the previous builds of the game might not reach the general public for awhile. Luckily 3D Realms is good for releasing old material, so I suspect we'll see it someday.

 

Like they've already said, it will be a game, and it will be a fun game. It won't be the second coming or anything, but what game lives up to that kind of hype? I think it will be awesome. I don't think 3D Realms would put out something bad. I personally thought those graphics were pretty good on the 720p video, but I guess thats just me. It mostly looks like people can actually play it on there non super computers!

 

I really hope that we'll get to see previous builds of the game, they look so great especially the 2001 build.

Thats sweet dude! I could say the same still play the classic fighting games daily. 3s, Garou, CVS 1 & 2 etc. Also its good to kick out some N64!. It doesn't end there I still watch all the 90s shows on tv :lol:

Moving on to the trailer. I was happy that the game is finally getting somewhere but guys don't forget its probably still quite a while away from release (end of 2008?). Until I see fully in game I'll keep my thoughts to myself .

I am interested in the game, but I've never really taken them seriously whenever they said something about releasing the game.

Second time around it wasnt so bad, i think i`m in a better mood now :icon_bigg Duke 3D was one of my favourite PC games of all time. "I`m looking for an alien toilet to park my bricks, who`s first!"

 

How are they funding DKF anyway? If it was most games it would be cancelled after the first year... are the programmers and staff working on peanuts and rain water or something? As for the trailer, gosh what a load of crap that was. Typical, hey look we have a trailer soon, but we aren't going to show you anything...

 

Load of crap? I thought it works pretty good for a teaser. I'm pretty sure it presented itself like most teasers do, although I guess I can see the point, since it's not like this game was just announced or anything.

By the looks, its using the modified Doom3 engine from Prey, which is already more than 4 years old...

I mean, c'mon! unless they're getting it for free (which I doubt) they could be using the far better Rage engine.

Anyway, about the trailer itself, its sucks: is nowhere near the awesomeness of the 2001 E3 trailer, which showed a great variety of different gameplay modes, and all with graphics that where state-of-the-art at the time.

Its a damn teaser trailer, give it a break. An actual trailer is coming soon enough they said. The trailer was made in the spare time of employees, so yeah.

 

I'm still sure Duke Nukem Forever is just a running gag and part of the contract you have to sign says you can never reveal that information.

Nah seriously, I don't know what to think. I loved the original Duke 3D on pc back then, but this teaser is not much but a few shiny renders. I've seen better homemade projects than this (See Mario Galaxy for the DS trailer ).

One more thing to say: the remixed music of the main theme kicked ass!
