It's not Doom 3 like Prey. It's pretty much there own engine, but they started with Unreal on this version. The only thing left is the scripting and network code.

And it was just a teaser! Think about all the teasers for other games, such as FF or something. That worked well as a teaser.

with games like Gears of War 2 waiting for the next holiday season, I think Duke has lot's of catching up to do in technical terms - even compared to "older" titles like GoW1 and Bioshock.

I hope he curses just as much , like the last game. Since if he has gotten PC, then it won´t be as fun. As Duke 3D, since if he is looking for an alien toilet to put his brick in, then it is smelling just a bit PC. Since his comment about an alien toilet was "I Am going to rip your head off, and SHIT down your neck".

Yeah, I'm hoping for tons of "mature" content as well!

The 2001 canned build was the Unreal one, this IS using the Prey engine, which is a modified Doom3 engine.

I dont think they are that close to finish the game, or else we would've seen more stuff about it.

Yeah me too, I just hope all those right-wing media whores (I'm looking at you jack thompson) wont be so keen on the subject that 3Drealms decides to remove some content...

I can't be 100% sure, but I am at least 99% sure DNF uses it's own engine spinned off from Unreal. I don't think it uses the Doom 3 based engine Prey used. It does look similair though.

I'm almost positive Duke Nukem Forever uses the latest iteration of the Unreal engine. 3D Realms and Epic have a pretty close relationship (although I don't know how serious they've gotten :sexy2:).

It definitely wouldn't be using id's latest engine, as 3D Realms have never used an id engine in one of their games except this one. I've read that it was a placeholder until they used something else (quickly switched to Unreal engine).

At any rate, it looks like the newest Unreal engine. I'm pretty happy about that, because Bioshock and Unreal Tournament 3 look amazing and runs very well (most of the time).

It's Unreal 2 tech they started with, but I think Unreal 3 would work out pretty awesome!

They started with Quake 2 engine and moved to Unreal 2, to there own thing.

I really hope they finally finish the game, but it would kind of ruin the jokes about it. I wouldn't mind if I get to play a new Duke game with classic feel though.

Dude, look at the trailer, then at Prey: is the same modified Doom3 engine...

The UT3 engine looks way less blocky

Why would the team use the Unreal engine for years only to switch over to something inferior? Does that make a lot of sense to you?

Shadowlayer doesn't listen to anyone, remember.

I also agree it doesn't look like the Prey (Id Tech 4) engine.

oatmela: what engine is it using? Not bashing at all, just curious.

Broussard: Unreal. I believe we branched off somewhere around the Unreal 2 time when they added static meshes. Since then we've redone the rendering 100% and it's a fully modern engine.

See? It does look a lot like Prey's engine but it's not Doom 3.

I hope they work on the graphics some more because this looks really aged compared with the unreal 3 based games and things like Crysis.

Yeah I see, but Unreal2? thats even older than the Doom3/Prey one.

Plus I dont see the economy of the rendering makeover against just licensing the UT3 engine.

But well, whatever, if the game is good then I dont care about the graphics...

    You have no idea:lol:
